We didn’t attend service but just looked around. It is nicely restored and a shame it had to be restored because of an earthquake. You can still see some of the original work and that is awesome.

Beautiful cathedral! We had an excellent docent who walked us through the history of the Cathedral. When it was restored, spaces were left to show the original artwork on the building! What a great way to learn about the early founding of Monterey.

This is the oldest cathedral in the United States. It's worth stopping by to see and say a prayer. Lovely, old fashioned cathedral full of history!

Hello, The San Carlos Cathedral is small and authentic. It is just the same as when it was first built. No gift shop, but a quiet place to reflect. Photos are permitted except during mass.
