Unfortunately the figures and scenery is a bit old, and corny, really needs an update

This attraction is in the building next to Bubba Gumps, right next to the Harley Davidson store. The cost is only $9.95, and the content is interesting, but the wax figures and the decor inside is old, dirty and run down. It is unfortunate, as it looks like if they were up to date or newer, it would be a... More

I asked my wife to go with me but fortunately she has better sense and did not go. This museum has a very dated and almost campy quality about it. I recently read Grapes of Wrath and watched the film as well. I was hoping to learn something interesting but this was really cheap and cheesy. Someone like John Waters... More

This is a fun exhibit that walks through the history of California. There is a lot to learn, but the exhibits are a bit dated. Still, worth it--especially if you have children. So much to learn about our great state. Not perfect, but still wonderful.

We were killing some time around the wharf and stumbled into this place. Some of the exhibits are literally falling apart. Many offer very long winded audio. While some of the stuff here is OK, it is generally disappointing.

Like a carnival funhouse you expect tackiness. Good for a laugh. Pretty much had it to ourselves, hard to imagine going through with a lot of people. They try to give a history lesson on the Monterey area but it is hard to follow and the sound is terrible. Some displays don't even make sense. Very dated.

We went through this to kill some time and out of curiousity. It is VERY cheesy, but the narrations are interesting and educational. It's quite dated, so I think that's what made it fun in a quirky kind of way. And it was free at the time we went through, so that was nice. I'd say take about an hour... More

This place is so creepy. My fiancé, my sister and my 3 year old son were so scared to go downstairs because we were the only ones there and I had to pretend that I wasn't scared. Lol. It's literally like walking into a basement and the only way to turn on the light is by getting to the bottom... More

Do not go, but if you go, DO NOT bring children. Believe ALL of the negative comments people have posted. Some parts are completely inappropriate for children. Apparently, it was an attempt to teach California history, but it's horrible. As a life-long Californian, I see what they were trying to do, but visit Monterey State Historic Park instead. We went... This is a great interactive exhibit for the kids, it gives an insight into Steinbeck's world and is very different to a normal Wax Museum. I would consider this for young families...

Of all the places you could blow your money in Monterey this has got to be the worst. For starters the place really stinks. I don't know what the odor is but it permeates the entire place. I know when you hear wax museum you think of places like the Hollywood Wax Museum or Madame Tussauds. This place has nowhere... More
