July is warm. Friends had said Ironstone was a "must"visit because it is pretty and because of the museum. The AC in the museum was barely working. The vault was so stifling that after 2 attempts I gave up trying to see the gold nugget. I asked where I could get water and a bench. The fountains are turned off but I could walk to the tasting room and buy water. I am not sure where the bench was. I left. Not feeling the need to go back.

A beautiful day for wine tasting...the flowers were gorgeous however the wine tasting hour was not what we anticipated. I had made reservations weeks in advance for the wine tasting. When we arrived we were told there a table was not available for tasting so we had to stand at one of the small bistro tables. Our server would disappear for an extended time then come back with another wine without any description etc. on what we were tasting. We kept being told that a table would become available soon. We only had 1 hr. before they closed and eventually we finally got a table with 15 mins. to spare. After I complained that we did have reservations and why a table was not available....we were told....do you expect us to kick the people out? With limited capacity everywhere, I would expect some time limits to be placed on tables so everyone that they took reservations from could anticipate a good experience with the wine tasting. The next day we had reservations at Bella Grace winery in Sutter Creek and had a wonderful experience with a table outside and a server who cared about her customers.

Quite a space they have created in and around the winery. The grill menu is by the cash register. Recommend the guided estate tour ($10) with the heads-up that ours took somewhere between 1.5 and 2 hours and I forgot to take pictures.

Winter awesome time to go! WAY less crowded. Very cool small museum. We’re told in the museum to ask if Conrad could give us a tour when we went to the tasting room. He was not in the room and the head of security, Steve, said he’d give us one! And boy did he. He was wonderful! Such a family feeling of a huge grounds, 500 acres, caves, concert venue, heard great stories and antidotes. Highlight!

Thank you for visiting Ironstone Vineyards! We are pleased to hear that Steve was able to step in! As a long-time employee, he has a wealth of knowledge about our history. Plus, we are sure he had a few great "behind the scenes" stories to tell. Please return anytime you are in the area. With seasonal gardens, a rotating wine tasting and deli menu, and year-round events, we always have something new to explore. The only thing that never changes is the hospitality! Cheers, Jessica H. jessica@ironstonevineyards.com

Basically, Murphy's is now one huge wine tasting room. The wines on the main street are hit and miss, but when we skipped town and came here we hit the jackpot. All the reds (we didn't try any whites) were great, and oddly, out of the three price ranges on each variety, the cheapest tasted best. That was a welcome surprise.

Even better is getting to find a quiet spot in the expansive, park-like setting in the trees and flowers to have some lunch and relax. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area.

This is a mixed review of a mixed venue. The grounds are beautiful and the staff were very pleasant and helpful, but that's where the good ends. The road to the venue is a single lane narrow road. Parking, wow parking, this has to be the worst local for parking and traffic control I've been to, complete unacceptable for a lactation that puts on concerts. Never been here before? Expect to be completely lost and and ask every staff member how to get where you want to go as there is no signage at all, just people wandering around looking for things. Are tickets had a "buffet" included, yeah, well, ok it was food so there's that. The concert area itself was pretty nice, it's relative small and even the furthest reaches are close to the stage. The assigned seating however are plastic fold-out chairs zip-tied together and are so small and low that a child would feel cramped. I'm a larger man at 6'-2" and was extremely uncomfortable sitting on what amounted to a stool. Everyone within ear shot was complaining about the chairs. Then there was the stank of weed everywhere all night long. I get it this is California after all, but the place reeked like a dumpster fire at a horse stable. Maybe go for the winery and to see the ground but stay away from the concerts unless you are a masochist.

This is not all the venue's fault however I do think they should play a big part in the solution. Concert last weekend, all modes of transportation sold out so we got in line early for a "shuttle" pass. Sold for $20 ea. by a nearby cab company. Got in line early for the "shuttle" as we had dinner included in our show ticket. We waited and waited and waited and were obviously going to miss dinner now, finally board the bus and pull off the curb, after all that and...STOP. We are 2 feet from where we boarded in the same line of cars everyone else is in. What was the point of this? We missed dinner and the entire first act. We got a ride back with people we met so we didn't have to deal. The cab service, venue, and town need to get together to arrange an extra lane or alternative route and entrance or something. Conceivably people wouldn't be leaving before the show so maybe the service could go in the exit. idk. Really wasn't a great start to our otherwise fantastic show.

Enjoyed the tour of the museum, but we were shocked at the quality of the food and service at dinner later that night. I had the duck, and it was fantastic. The wine recommended by the server was spot on and delicious! We had people in Murphys telling us that there wasn't dinner service. Glad we didn't listen!

They have lots of sub par wines at affordable prices, so pick carefully. We liked the really old Zins which is where the Sierra foothills excel. This is also a wonderful entertainment venue and the grounds are beautiful. If you stop at one winery in Murphys, pick this one, but be careful with wine picking. The pricier ones do tend to be better.

We love Ironstone and belong to the winery. We find that the wines (and their prices!) are very good. Last night we enjoyed watching "Beetlejuice" at the winery: they have a classic film on the outdoor screen 4 times a year. And today (Sunday) we drove up for the brunch: it was just superb! I highly recommend this place to anyone!
