Took the Vista Dome for 3-hour tour and Lunch. The food was beyond exceptional and service was excellent. Comfortable seating for two and a very relaxing way to spend the afternoon traveling from Napa to St Helena and back. Note that the train does not turn around, but reverses when it gets to the end. So, your best seating would... More

If you long to taste a bit of travel that is reminiscent of the luxury trains of the past this is it. We booked the Quattro Train, which means you get to visit 4 wineries and enjoy a private tasting and tour. This is not only wonderful that you are not drinking and driving, but you also get to enjoy... More

My partner and I booked the Quattro Vino and we had the best time. Let's be real, it's a super touristy concept but most 'wine tours' are in a van or car. This was in a beautifully maintained old rail car. The scenery from the train was perfect, as you rolled through the valley. The experience at some of the... More

In the scheme of train rides around the world, not the most romantic with the best scenery but still fun nevertheless. Kind of expensive 3+ hours to drink wine, but I guess it is worth it especially when we pass by cars struggling to drive on the crowded roads, or be reminded of not driving under the influence when one... I really hate that feeling of being herded - and I had that a little at various points during this experience. That having been said, the train setting itself, the meal and the scenery all made it a worthwhile tourist experience - like one you need to do once, but not repeat. Also be aware if you are a couple... More

Mike and I have been riding the train since 1991. Last year, we rode in the dome car. The dome car has better quality food and better views! We could not get seating this year in the dome car. We decided to go at the last moment. They said they had no available space, but we could call in the... More

Top notch all the way, from the station greeting, the station stores, the lounge car, the dinner, to the great photos! Oh and the ride, and the cars and the views and...well everything and of course every single staff member and did I say everything?

What a wonderful experience! The food and ambiance were outstanding. Our server gave us information on the sites as we passed them. Each train car were decorated more beautifully than the next! We were invited to tour the cars including the kitchen which is totally amazing itself. We were then invited to the desert car where we were served a... More

Great trip on the Ambassador tour on 20th December, beautiful lunch & views & great service all day. Trains are lovely. We were on our honeymoon and had such a welcome. Included the ferry from San Francisco & luxury coach pickup which made the trip very easy.

I should suggest to take the train in other seasons instead of winter, no any view outside the window, the lunch is ordinary.
