This is a very nice and clean beach area for how much traffic it gets. The views are beautiful and the sand is nice and clean. The pier is basically a big pier, nothing special. There are boat rides and other touristy items available, along...More

Love walking out on this pier, been doing it for about 52 years. Ruby diner at the end of the pier with dinner and dessert. Love people watching and looking into the fishermen and women buckets to see what they have caught.

There is plenty of parking at the shore end of the pier and restrooms. Other than Ruby’s Diner at the end there are no amusements or other entertainment on the pier making this a great place to walk and relax. We just watched the fishermen...More

Balboa Pier is lovely. We enjoyed walking along it and watching all the people fishing. We ate at Ruby's and enjoyed it. It was so nice to watch the water and people on the beach.

Sunset, sunrise, and sunny days! Better in the early morning before the crowds arrive, perhaps with a dreary fog bank. That keeps the crowds away. Just an everlasting experience.

Nice, busy pier with souvenir shopping, beach and bike rentals, and street food. Reasonable. We took a cruise boat from Davey's Locker to do a sunset cruise. Was worth it.

Yes there are! Just before you go up onto the pier. In the small retail area, you will find rentals of all human powered means. As for rates, I have never rented, so I could not say.
