Jack London Square looks like it was built just for tourists. It lacks charm, and is very commercial. There are many high priced restaurants and shops that cater to the tourist. Parking is difficult.

Wonderful Farmer's Market on Sunday's. Also the Brunch at Scott's is fabulous. You might think it is a bit pricey but for what you get it is so worth it. The view, the atmosphere, the food and drinks!!

A very cool part of town on the water! It's like a little water front village at the end of Broadway. When I come back to Oakland this is where I am staying again. Nice shoreline walk way awaits you as do many waterfront restaurants...More

There is no comparing Oakland to San Francisco, but when a relative recently moved to a condo in Jack London Square, we were introduced to this nice part of Oakland. This area along the waterfront is a hub of activity, especially on weekends and is...More

We love going to JLS strolling along the pier and attending shows at Yoshis's. There is a mature crowd and we feel safe. On Saturdays after the first show at Yoshi's we walk around to Everett and Jones(E&J) for some very tasty barbecue. Saturday night...More

A nice area to visit if in Oakland. Decent selections of bars, restaurants and shops. Security was visible and appears to be well maintained.

There are quite a few restaurants here offering choices of pizza, Italian, steak, and much more for your dining options. Lovely area to stroll along, too.

I would not walk to this location at night but definitely a nice walk in the day. I happened upon an open air market on the weekend.

We're planning our 50th class reunion at Scotts in October. Any suggestions for a nearby bar for a nightcap and a awesome Sunday brunch?

There are many. There is a free bus called the M (it is green) It runs from 7 to 1 am. You can bar hop all along downtown to midtown Oakland on Broadway and Telegraph where there are tons of clubs and restaurants.

Yes - There are a couple of parking structures and lots. Parking in the structure closest to the ferry is validated if you take the ferry.

JLS has an annual bike fest/-athon. All the avid bikers I know have been there because Oakland is a very bike friendly place. Lots of long flat trails (including along the waterfront and around Lake Merritt) as well as... More
