Beautiful city lake - perfect for running, walking and people watching! And at certain times of year it’s angreap spot to see nesting cormorants.

This was an interesting walking area in the heart of the city. Lots of birdwatching opportunities. Get out and stretch your legs.

The lake is well locate and easy to access. Long running track is well used. The lake shore could use more attention with trash removal.

I jog around Lake Merritt a couple times a week. Easy flat 3.1 miles. Some beautiful spots; some seedy. Not dangerous during daylight hours - you get a real taste of Oakland!
