Lots of people mulling around. There are lots of produce stores with different types of produce. For the tourist there are lots of souvenir shops. If you're hungry you're in luck. Lots of restaurants. One of my favorite places to go is the "Misfortune Cookie"...More

Great shopping at local prices, instead of tourist prices. It's smaller than San Francisco's Chinatown, which is also worth the trip. If in Oakland, great place to shop, eat, and browse.

We walked around Chinatown looking at the murals and peering into the many grocery stores. Many different types of foods are offered here.

It may not look like it because of all the traffic, but this is a real neighborhood with apartments and shops and lots of places to eat and shop for food. Interesting.

Some great places to eat here in Chinatown , is so close to Lake Merrit and Jack Londo, you can walk all over Oakland and have lunch or dinner at Shandong, that is my favorite restaurant in Chinatown

Locals only come for some weekend shopping. Tourists hardly come except for a quick bite. Not recommend unless you're in the area and need an average Chinese food fix.

A place worth visiting mainly because of the produce markes there and because some of the restaurants are very good. Certainly not as colorful and interesting as San Francisco´s Chinatown. BART can be used to reach this area.
