We took the Coaster from Old Town to Oceanside to go to a restaurant. It was a pleasant experience. The ride was nice and the views were good. Much more relaxed than driving.

If you love riding a train and want to avoid traffic, the Coaster is the way to go! Beautiful ride of the coast with many areas that are right on the ocean and great views of the water and coastline.

I haven't taken it at night so I'm unsure about that. I can say that it wasn't crowded. It did seem like a regular means of commute to some locals.
