I have been going to Cal Shakes since the mid 90's. Not much has changed. Great theater company, fantastic picnic grounds, and uncomfortable seating. Yes, I said uncomfortable seating. You can bring your own beach chair, (or maybe you can rent one....you'll have to check)...More

Saw "Black Odyssey" here. Quality performance and quality venue. Entire property is outside. Beautiful setting; comfortable seats; great pre-performance dining (bring your own); excellent lines of vision. Definitely give it a try.

Nice venue to catch some Shakespeare. Easy to park or take BART to Orinda and shuttle over. Pleasant arena and friendly staff.

"Much Ado About Nothing" with males playing female parts and females playing male parts. One word summary: confusing.

We have enjoyed many productions here over the years, and the acting is always fabulous! The venue is gorgeous, but can be chilly at night when the bay fog comes over the hill. As with all modern Shakespeare interpretations there may be a regrettable modernization...More
