Where else can you see what the deserts of the North America look like? There are animals from North America and many African animals. Many are endangered species which TLD and other zoos are trying to save from extinction. Informative keeper chats about animals and animal conservation almost every 30 minutes. The friendly volunteers in purple are enthusiastic about their... More

Very fun place, it really is as much a zoo as an informative desert learning experience. The also a have a animal hospital complete with large animal surgery suite with viewing of the proceedings.

Many of the animals were inside or hidden in the shade I heard one gentleman in the animal hospital say"I have only seen two animals--and they were both stuffed! I think the admission price should include the train ride the butterfly tent giraffe feeding etc Overall I thought it was a bit of a rip off especially as most of... More

The Living Desert is a great park near Palm Springs. The park feels large, but is very manageable because of the tram that runs throughout. You feel close to the animals, yet their enclosures seem spacious and natural. We also found the staff to be knowledgeable, friendly, and intent on ensuring all guests have an enjoyable visit. The only downside... More

This is an outstanding zoo with great presentation. It also contains the largest model railroad I have ever seen. We bought a senior couples membership on our first visit for $99 that gives us priority entry at 7.00am before the public opening at nine and reciprocal privileges at major zoos across the country. We have gone three times in the... More

While We typically do not visit zoos at our age while on vacation, we made an exception for The Living Desert. Close to our hotel and was a break from the pool and eating too much ! Very nice and personnel professional and friendly. Animals did not seem confined but had a wonderfully open environment. Didn't see the Cheetah but... More

We enjoyed walking through the Africa section. The giraffe's were great. Many interesting species of cats and birds. Like most of this type of venue, the animal areas are large and it can be problematic seeing any animals if they are not out and about.

Lovely trails of all the beautiful flora you can expect to find here in the desert. if you have allergies it may be best to come when they are in a sleep state but to truly experience them in all their beauty you must go when everything is in full bloom
