Several parts of this attraction are excellent - the volunteer guides were fantastic and I could see how small children might enjoy this. I liked the giraffe exhibit the best (lovely work on the landscaping) I will return to see more of the gardens (brief visits - they seem worthwhile) and hope to see something happening in the surgery. (it's... More

We made a special effort to see this attraction and we were glad we did. There were so many different types and kinds of desert plants--and we were lucky to see many in bloom. This place obviously can get very warm, but there were plenty of water fountains throughout the zoo and gardens, and many places to sit and relax... More

We almost missed it because we didn't realize The Living Desert was actually a zoo! In addition to the beautiful animals, there are great walking paths through the zoo which offer some shade on hot days. There are also three hiking trails into the desert from very short to much longer. We decided to buy a one-year pass for two... More

Very good way to spend a couple of hours. We really enjoyed the side paths with the plants specific to the different desert zones. That part of the park is not commercial but the zoo area tends to be a bit more so. Model train set up is a remarkable thing to see. Very hot while we were there even... More

Great zoo. Beautiful grounds that feel like a part of the surrounding scenery. Not the greatest number of species (only desert species) but most of them have a lot more room to roam and more natural habitats that most other zoos.

We had s very good visit to the living desert zoo & gardens. There were lots if things to see. We enjoyed the giraffe feeding, camel rides, lots of other animals and birds, snakes & spiders, a newborn mountain goat being carefully protected by its mother, hummingbirds, miniature train set etc. It was extremely hot so it was very important... This is a terrific venue for families. Everyone gets such a kick out of feeding the giraffes and the camel rides. But, there is so much more. The veterinary hospital was very interesting. Grounds are beautifully kept. The tram was helpful. We loved seeing the desert mountain bighorn sheep with her newborn.

Been coming to the desert for years and this was my first time visiting the Living Desert. Sorry I hadn't gone sooner. Nice walking paths thru the gardens and zoo. Many plants and animals to see. Was there on a Sunday and though the parking lot was full, it did not seem crowded within the park. Was only there for... More

Just a lovely place. The park tram makes it easy to overview the park first and choose where to get off. The grounds are extensive and many of the plants are identified, which I found quite helpful. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Animals are well cared for. There's a fully equipped animal hospital where animal physicals are done daily...and... More

Reasonable admission. Handy tram rides. Many interesting areas including local America Indian settlement. The ranger presentations are well done, and every staff member is very helpful.
