This is an excellent family oriented garden and zoo! However, there is a lot of walking. Great examples of desert flora/fauna and not just from the US but from several world sites to. Animal exhibits are well done with both US and African examples. I would definitely go back next time we are here, even tho it is rather expensive.

Really great zoo to visit and all the animals are in really great shape. Easy layout with a circular path that takes you all the way around. Highlights not to miss are the model trains, feeding of the giraffes, zebras and big horn sheep. Lots more but those were our favorites.

This is a great zoo for the size and the location. We have taken our grandchildren here from 18 months of age to 11 years. This zoo is small enough that you can walk the entire zoo; however, a tram is also available for a reasonable cost. The variety of animals is really good. Be sure to go to the... More

As usual a great visit at a great zoo, the butterflies were mostly landed when we went in but that made it better to see the details of their coloring. GD loved it, 2.5 year old.

While on a short vacation in the Palm Desert, we took our 5 and 2 year old children to the Living Desert. It is a very vast property, and there are many, many animals to see. It’s definitely worth the trip. In addition to the $20 entrance fee for adults, and $13 or so for children over 3, be prepared... More

We were fortunate to know a docent who has worked at the Living Desert for many years and she gave us a wonderful and comprehensive tour. 3 hours passed quickly, could have stayed there much longer. So much to see and very grateful to have the opportunity to visit the animal clinic, learn about the myriad of birds and animals... More

Just a wonderful days visit from seeing the desert plants and guided tours to stuff for young kids. Kids can feed the giraffes and see a large number of exotic animals . The guided tours are hosted by knowledgable and pleasant local naturalists . Nice walking paths wind through the park. Each year Mathis Brothers furniture store sells discounted passes... More

A great collection of animals from arid countries. The live demonstrations of various animals is very informative.
