Our group found this an intriguing behind the scenes look at wind power, led by a knowledgeable person, who then took us in a bus to get up close to some of the different types of wind generating turbines on site.

Hundreds of monsterous windmills harnessing the power of the wind to generate electricity. They are cool to see but that's about it.

Amazing to see these structures up close. Hundreds upon hundreds as you enter Palm Springs. No tour needed, stop safely at side of road and snap away.

We were heading north from Palm Springs and saw this great display of hundreds upon hundreds of windmills. When in action together, they look amazing. Some are caged in white while others, perhaps older ones have metal casings structure supports. They all look wonderful.

You will drive past this wind farm as you drive towards Joshua Tree National Park. Even though this is a welcoming sustainable energy generation farm, everytime I drove by, there was no wind. The size of this wind farm feels like an eyesore on the valley, somewhat it spoils the views from the summit of the aerial tramway, as well... More

As you drive, you can see it from many directions and it's like an architecture project on empty valley space.

This is all about perspective... like having your head in the oven and your feet in the freezer. We were coming down to Palm Springs from Twentynine Palms/Joshua Tree NP... and could see the spinners from the distant. Actually... upon closer examination... quite a few weren't spinning and a few had broken wings or some kind of structural damage. OK... More

Whenever you travel Hwy 10 west out of Palm Springs, you can't miss this farm of Windmills dominating both sides of the highway. They are kind of mesmerizing and you can't take your eyes off them. Fun for kids to see for their first time.

These windmills stand at attention on both sides of I-10 and actually mark (at least in my mind) that the turn off for Palm Springs is coming up. On any day these rows of windmills dominate the skyline, but on a windy day their effect is mesmerizing.
