As an experienced hiker and rock scrambler/climber I could have done this hike easily in 40 minutes or so. Instead, I decided to walk with ranger Hepburn on an interpretive nature hike that took approximately 2 hours. The ranger was very knowledgeable and pointed out some Native American petroglyphs that was barely visible, as well as the holes in rocks... More

John at the Visitor Center was terrific. He knew the area, the tribe and lots of history about Palm Springs. We walked here from our hotel and really enjoyed the walk. Due to knee issues we did not hike up into the canyon, we were warned that there are a lot of steps, tall steps, to access the canyon so... More

I went to Tahquitz in the early, early days, when it was lots of young people camping, swimming and partying. It was very clean then and we really did our best to carry everything out and keep it clean. But then, there are always those few....cuz years later apparently it turned into a mess fess, with the homeless staying there... More

We made the trek up to the waterfall twice, even though the water does not flow in November. It is still worth the walk. We are birders and there were Hummingbirds everywhere! The trails are well marked and the brochure tells of interesting way points.

The hike is just a block from a neighborhood so it's easy to get to. The trail staff and rangers are very friendly, helpful, and informative. We went in the morning, so the canyon was cool and shaded. The trail is well maintained but it does have some rough terrain in spots. I'd only recommend to the fit.

Beautiful views over Palm Springs easily accessible just off the edge of time. Be sure to take a coupon from a visitors magazine. This walk costs about $30 for two adults and two small children. Enjoy the beautiful views while hiking round.

Close to town but you feel like a world away. Awesome views and nice hike. A sign warns hikers to be watchful for snakes. We didn't see any. We saw lizards and many birds. Some hikers we ran accross did see big horn sheep. Highly recommended.

Sacred valley to the native people of this land , go with a ranger so the experience is well mapped and you don't miss a beat , several hours on rugged terrain will not only wet your appetite but you will after this hike sleep like a baby !

We were in town for a business meeting and had a morning to explore. I had been told that this was a sacred valley to the native people and cajoled a coworker to hike it with me. It took a bit of finding due to the road construction but the gentleman working at the visitor's center was genuinely warm and... More
