This is close to my in-laws, and walking the hill is a family tradition. Great views of the entire bay area. Open only during the day. Some closures - check the Stanford website/Dish page for details.

We visited the Stanford Dish to enjoy a pleasant evening walk. Our granddaughter started out running but soon decided that sitting in the stroller was a better option. There were lots of people out enjoying the paths and socializing.

Really great hiking trail that gives you a wonderful view overlooking Stanford, Palo Alto, and all of the surrounding areas. Just make sure to watch out for the wildlife, as they tend to come out even during the day!

Good exercise and very scenic; a bit more crowded than secluded; convenient parking nearby; bummer for no dogs
