This has been one of our family's favorite places for close to 50 years. I began taking my now 47 year old daughter there when she was a year old. A sweet note-when she visited last year from her journalism job in Egypt we had coffe there and she fondly remembered the wonderful children's department. I studied there for my... More

With independent bookstores struggling, it is a treat to shop at a landmark bookstore that is still going strong. Well stocked, well staffed. I found over 6 books to buy from various genres.

Vroman's brings to mind bookstores of a bygone era -- i.e., 1990s -- with comfortable resting spaces and helpful clerks. And they have a variety of items besides books.

There are so few independent bookstores left that this is an extra special treat. It is organized by interest topics and has such an extensive inventory that one could spend hours in the store. I especially like the employees recommendations. They also have excellent small gifts, cards and stationery. Enjoyable as well is a coffee pastry cafe. This is a... More

This place is not just a bookstore, it's a great place to go shopping for gifts too. I guarantee that you will be able to find a gift or something for anybody you know in this store, especially if you want to buy something for yourself. Also, they have a lot of things for each holiday, occasion or time of... More

Great bookstore. Very helpful staff, friendly and the wall with the staff's suggestions is worth the visit alone. And a good cafe in the store. Let's support our local bookstores!

Never is there "nothing" to buy at this age old, important independent book seller VROMAN'S. Upstairs, downstairs, outside, or in the coffee shop, something is always going on. Great history of authors holding court here with there lastest and greatest writings. Good coffee...great greeting cards (yes, the lost art of actual writing with hand and pen)...a courtyard with summer music...a... More

Love Vroman's. Has a Hugh inventory of books, as well as, stationary, small gifts, imaginative items. Convenient parking, knowledgeable staff. Been in Pasadena for 120 + years, so they must be doing something right!

Finding what you want here is a big treat. Truly for every man (and wo-man), Vroman's bookstore has a lovely selection of everything. A go to place for my gift giving needs, Vroman's satisfies any coffee craving, or indulgent mood I may have, as well. The children's dept upstairs is extensive and set up for kids to play and explore.... More

Are you REALLY a Pasadenan? If you are, like Pasadenans, Altadenans and South Pasadenans for over 100 years, you prefer to buy your books, magazines and stationary HERE. Its the SERVICE, the KNOWLEDGE, and the humor of the staff and the TRADITION of the place. Many shops in California have attempted to be Vromans. None have accomplished this feat. I... More
