We stopped by this winery for the first time. If you remember the TV shows Burke's Law and Land of the Giants you will especially appreciate stopping here and meeting the star of these shows, Gary Conway. Sustainably produced very good wine. A nice place to stop near some of the more corporate wineries.

I had purchased the "Art of the Vineyard" online, written by vineyard Carmody-Mcknight owner Gary Conway. An unexpected trip ended up taking me to Santa Barbara and Paso Robles and I was lucky enough to be able to meet Gary in person and not only have him sign the book but he spent a considerable time with me and my "wine tasting" partner discussing his passion for the land and the wine...and enjoyed the stores that enhanced those written in the book. The scenery is wonderful...the servers and owner and his daughter Kathleen...gracious and fun to engage with...made for a wonderful afternoon...and the drive out from Paso Robles was sunny, mild and enjoyable on a January day!

If you want to taste great magical Bordeaux style wines u must go to Carmody-Mcknight. The owner Gary Conway is sooo passionate about his Terroir sits on three ancient volcanoes and if you want to be completely entranced by this former successful TV and movie star well ya gotta go to: Carmody-Mcknight. We are club members here and the entire staff will welcome you with open arms. The landscape is also incomparable. 5 stars from this guy and gal. Oh and I almost forgot about Tucker the vineyard Standard Poodle.. This place is Xanadu.. Gary is also an extremely gifted painter/artist his art is for sale on site and his wife is a former Miss America, Mariam McKnight.

Liked the wine, grounds and tasting room were nice but, add me to the list of those who have had problems with Carmody Mcknight. We were in Paso this past July, stopped there and my wife liked several of their wines so she signed up for the club. Back to Indiana where we live, trying to coordinate our 1st shipment to stay out of the heat I made several phone calls expressing my concern over shipping dates. Thought I had it all taken care of and was told not to worry but come to find they ship my order on a Wednesday morning before labor day weekend. Obviously, UPS is closed 3 days straight. As it turns out it also happens to be 110 degrees here that weekend so it sits and cooks in the warehouse over the weekend. Phone calls do no good, no acceptance of any responsibility on their part in spite of the fact I tried my best to plan ahead to prevent the problem in the first place. Mistakes happen ( I've made my share ), and in this case a simple " yes, I'm sorry, but we screwed up" would have went a looong way with us, but they would have none of that. Would give zero stars if I could but not an option.....

Unfortunately since my last 5 star review of Carmody McKnight the vineyard seems to have lost its way. The wines were not good, they seem to have lost their taste buds or are in denial. We have cancelled our club membership which took some doing as rarely will they answer the phone or return emails. While it is a beautiful drive to their facility fortunately there are many other vineyards in the area. We will try them again next year and update if positive.

Went there because of it being rated as " the most beautiful winery in Paso" . That part's true. But the wine should be part of Bev mo's 5 cent wine options. They are unique blends that are frankly horrible. Even the server described one of the wines as "we picked these two types of grapes very late and accidently put them together at harvest. We decided we liked the flavor". No- should of been " we messed up big time & we're trying to sell this crap as a specialty blend". And all the big yippie of a has-been actor and his ms. America wife-don't care. This is a winery that's all hype & doesn't deliver.

This is the second year we visited this Winery. The owners are so down to earth and friendly. We had a delightful lunch. Last year we were able to tour his art gallery which is awesome. Rain this year prevented this. The grounds are beautiful.

Family owned, low keyed, beautiful artwork painted by the owner and film actor, Gary Conway. Dramatic contrast to Justin up to road. Kelly and Kathleen, running the place on a quiet Monday, are warm and friendly. Watch your step for all the baby frogs hopping around😀

We have visited this Winery so many times over the past years I can't remember how many. It is always the same. Cordial greetings by helpful employees. Kathlene is the daughter of the owners and very knowledgeable of their products. We have always enjoyed our time there, sitting by the lake, walking the grounds and admiring the art work of Gary McKnight. My wife is partial to the White on White wine but I prefer the older, well aged Reds. We also buy their Olive Oils made from the trees that line the driveway. This a different winery, very casual and laid back, nothing stuffy and lots of flexibility. If you want to feel really good on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon this is the place t o visit.

This is a fabulous winery and tasting room. The unique volcanic soil yields great tasting wine and the place is operated by knowledgeable, friendly people. WELL worth an afternoon stop to taste wine that is out of this world!
