This is hands down the best winery in Paso Robles and one of the best wineries in California. Cris Cherry learned to make wines from some of the best in the business, and their wineries are some of the best too.(Saxum, Linne Calodo, and even Garretson which sadly is no longer in business). The proves my point about wine and buildings. Villa Creek is very bare bones, yet produces some of the best wines coming out of California.
Parking area if you can call it that hold 3 maybe 4 cars. The tasting room is a board between 2 barrels. No fancy gift shop, no area for any type of events. They are there to make wine and they do an excellent job. I highly recommend visiting them.

Justine was a great host and made us feel at home. The wines were fantastic, really enjoyed all there reds. My wife and I really liked Avenger and Willow Creek Cuvee. There white wine, Fiano was great, very unique. Will be ordering more wine soon. Definitely my favorite winery in Paso Robles. I have been to Booker, Linne Calodo, Denner, and all the other high end exclusive wineries and Villa Creek wines are superb.

If you are in Paso to taste good wines, you need to go off the beaten path and find this place. These folks are producing some of the best reds in the area, though I warn you they are pricey.
We worked through their selection and ended up joining the club and taking away a number of wines. Both of us completely agreed that their 2007 High Road, End of the Road, James Berry Vineyard red blend was outstanding. It is one of the best we've tasted from the Paso area and we've been working it for many years. It retails at $100, however being in the club gets down to $80.
They've upgraded the winery experience from what it was a couple of years ago. They now have a nice parking area, high desert style landscaping and stairs up to the tasting room, and a simple yet gorgeous tasting room. Done almost completely in locally harvested walnut, no touristy stuff for sale, just wine.
If you are seriously into red, slow down, find this place and give it a try. A great experience. Cheers!

We heard good reviews and emailed ahead to make a reservation. When we rolled in Cris was busy on the crush pad, but stopped to greet us. We ended up chatting about his grapes for almost thirty minutes, tasted some grenache vs syrah that were handy, and then had four tastings. The dogs were very friendly and added to the experience. Would highly recommend coming by and chatting with Cris

Villa Creek Cellars is off the beaten path, and is the most unassuming tasting room you're likely to find -- inside the metal winemaking building where they make the wine and store the barrels. The "tasting bar" is little more than a plank stretched between two wine barrels. So if you're into well-appointed wine tasting rooms with expansive views over hillside vineyards -- stop right here.
But if you want to taste some of the best wines that the Paso Robles region has to offer, poured by someone who knows about wine and can really explain what you are drinking, how it was made, where the grapes came from, challenges with a particular vintage, and so on -- then I can highly recommend Villa Creek. Its location virtually ensures that you won't be lined up behind a crowd of thirsty wine-tasters. And to me, there's a certain charm about parking in a dirt parking lot, walking across the crush pad past wine-making equipment and through an industrial metal door to taste the wine that's made right there.
It's a $10 tasting fee and you get to keep the glass. Wallet warning: This is not inexpensive wine, so if you're looking to pick up a bottle of red wine for under $20, this is not the place. But if you want to taste some truly fine wine from the region, then Villa Creek Cellars will not disappoint. During our tasting, we were served a chilled white wine blended with Grenache Blanc and Roussane (Rhone varietals), a wonderful red Rhone grape blend (I think it's called Willow Creek), a Grenache that was lip-smacking good and one other red that escapes me at the moment although I'm tempted to say it was a Mourvedre. We took our time with each of the wines as the tasting room hostess (who is also basically Villa Creek's marketing director -- they're a very small operation) explained each one, talked about the vineyards where the grapes were sourced, they types of barrels used, and so on. Of the four wineries we visited during our time in the Paso Robles region, it was definitely the best experience.
I think they're only open Fridays and weekends, so if you're wine tasting mid-week, you're out of luck. And as I said earlier, they're off the beaten path, so you have to make an effort to drive there up in the hills north of Hwy 46. My understanding is that they have a restaurant in Paso Robles by the same name, not sure if they do tasting there or not.

This a great stop -- the wines are poured among the wine making equipment and barrels in a shed. The tables are set on top of barrels. The wines on this trip were terrific. The whole experience was a nice complement to the built-up and finished wine tasting rooms that are also nearby. You get a real feel for how the big names in California might have started out once upon a time.

Visiting Villa Creek is always a highlight of a wine tasting visit to Paso. Wonderful wines. Peachy Canyon is a beautiful drive and inevitably owners and wine makers Chris or JoAnn Cherry will be there to say hello. Love all their wines especially the Garnacha. Put Villa Creek on your list.

Villa Creek is a small winery with small productions and not available retail (as far as I can tell). Every wine they make is excellent and the small tasting room and tasting room staff are a blessing. They even have free WiFi. Try the Avenger and the Willow Creek Cuvée.

My wife and I decided to be adventurous and try some lesser known wineries off the beaten path. We found Villa Creek Cellars and had a great time. Melissa was very personable and knowledgeable regarding the wines. I loved the Avenger and couldn’t leave without buying a bottle. A great little winery off the beaten path. Enjoyed our time at Villa Creek.
