We have been going to Grass Valley, on to Nevada City to the South Fork of the Yuba River since I was 17. I have taught all my children how to swim there. I used to camp in a sand bar a half mile from the bridges on hwy 20, but camping is no longer allowed. There is a primitive... More

If you really want to see the water you have to park off the road and hike down the walls of the river to get all the way down. Not a lot of water so not worth risking my life for it.

Cool clean water! Great to cool off on a hot day. Easy to get to the river (although you might have to wade across it to get a spot to sit).

Fantastic swimming holes abound off the trails at the 49er bridge- a hike to Hoyt's Crossing will get you to a nude beach area along the open rocks of the river. A short drive to Bridgeport and you will see the longest covered Bridge in the US

5 couples went for the day to play in the river and had a blast! It was so fun and relaxing, but the hike down isn't very easy for people who can't walk well.

It was great nice drive from Sacramento and the water was very clean with great swimming holes. The water is also child friendly with several sand beaches and shallow areas.

The South Yuba is one of the most beautiful and amazing rivers that this area has to offer. There are lots of trails to hike on and the water is clean and beautiful. A very family friendly place to visit. Plan on spending some time here!

SYRSP is a great park that's not exactly easy to reach, but it is well worth the effort to visit. The main visitors center has some interesting history and some nice trails too. The family beach just to the west of the main crossing is quite nice. It is surprising that such loud boom-box is allowed along the river to... More

Lots of hiking and picnic areas right on the Yuba river. It's shallow enough in summer to swim. There is a great visitors area where you can pan for gold, visit a historic barn and she'll gas station.
