This gorgeous high mountain area offers many things for everyone. Beautiful lakes, hiking trails, lodges and resorts... plenty to see and do in any season.

We enjoyed taking a walk and going fishing at beautiful Caples Lake in the El Dorado Forest. This lake is near Carson Pass and also Kirkwood area. We often times catch trout. It is also a boating and kayaking lake, There is also a resort. The El Dorado Forest is also very nice.

This was our second visit to Bassi fall and the latest one is on Saturday, July 2nd. Our family of 3 along with 2 other families (total 5 kids from ages 5-13) visited this gem. Really enjoyed my day trip to Eldorado National Forest. Unlike Tahoe, or Yosemite, or the other more popular forests, Eldorado is delightfully overlooked by most, and this adds to the charm. The Forest is green as any, covered in creeks and much less litter than many forests in the area.

If you are in the Placerville area and on your way to Lake Tahoe then stop for a bit and take in the town and the local part of the El Dorado National Forest. You will have vistas and sights galore. On our trip we saw wild turkeys and deer in many locations. Don't stay on the fast roads ...... More

I am out in the ENF almost everyday. Go check out the crystal basin, it is extremely beautiful and very easy to access. Just take ice house road. Go up to big hill and check out the fire look out. There are hundreds of lakes and trails out there.

Beauty at its own. With adventurous hiking trails, lakes, streams, fishing, camping, picnicking. You can do anything in this forest, even live. The forest was my backyard for 18 yrs and every day was new. Wild flowers, animals, birds. Whispering winds just beauty that surrounds.
