We visited Shenandoah Vineyards in July with my friends from Germany. I've been to Amador County wineries many times, and I like them for down the earth-friendly atmosphere. Still, I was very impressed with the warmth and attentiveness of the staff members. The wines were very good and they had a big variety of wines. From zins to tempranillo and barbera. Not only did she share the wine specialties with us, but also cheeses! I had always gone to their sister vineyard, Sobon, but I will definitely head to this one again!

We visited on a Monday and had the place to ourselves. Lovely chatting with the hostess. She was extremely knowledgeable and we spent quite a bit of time just talking about so many things, oh and wine too. We had fun on a late Saturday afternoon tasting. Best part of the trip was the light traffic and small crowds at the end of the day. We ended the tasting as one winery was closing, but let us sit and enjoy the fall evening on the patio for another hour. Wine tastings were $5 for 7 choices, unlike the Napa $35 for 3 or 4 choices.
