First off, if you're going to hike or drive up Mt Vision, do a little preparatory research in advance so you know where the best views are. If you know where to look, you will be rewarded justly! My favorite viewpoint is the picnic table at the top of Bucklin trail, which is about 75 yards from the summit of... More

We drove up Mount Vision Road after a luring from a photography journal about the awesome view from the top. After reaching the parking lot, we looked for a trail but the signage was very limited. We headed off in the wrong direction, then had to circle back. Then, realized we needed to follow the paved road barred from autos... More

Note: some maps show a now-closed road up the mountain off Sir Francis Drake; the open one starts west of the Tomales Point Road turnoff. A little winding, but spectacular views along the way and especially at the top.

This used to be a pleasant drive from one end to the other, but now it is inexplicably blocked a little before you get to the summit. You can park there and walk. But why bother? There are some nice vistas on the way up. Now unapproachable from the south end; it sort of disappears.

As other reviews mention, the drive itself affords few views, but what others may not have discovered is that a short and easy walk (about .4 miles) leads you to some fantastic ones. A tad before the summit is a gravel parking lot with a pretty nice view east over Tomales Bay. At the very end of the road you... More

The views from Mount Vision are rather limited, so the drive up is hardly worth the effort. Use your time for something more rewarding!

We didn't take any of the trails down from the peak, but did walk a short way down on the Estero Trail. The views were good.

I liked the road, well kept. Should bring binoculars or telescope for greater advantage of the views
