This is the second time we "East-Coasters" have been to Point Reyes. The last time was 6 years ago on honeymoon and when we knew we were going to be in the San Francisco area again made sure that we revisited. Unlike our first trip...More

First problem is deciding where to go in this wonderful diverse park. Some great walks on long beaches. There's always the lighthouse beckoning, and the forests are magical. If you know nothing about the park, stop at the visitor center first to get advice.

I think I could spend days here; a few hours doesn't do it justice. We had a twisty turning drive down route 1; arrived at Point Reyes, already tired. A quick snack revived us and we had a good explore of Drake Beach. Very quiet,...More

Stopped here to see the lighthouse. Very beautiful. Unfortunately it was a bit foggy but it was still worth a visit.

Went here for an afternoon - luckily, it was a very warm (90 F) day in San Francisco, meaning out here it was really pleasant. We drove up to Tule Elk reserve first, and walked part of the trail up there, we were lucky as...More

We loved taking in the beauty of Point Reyes - the drive in was surprising with several dairy farms along the way but the view from the Lighthouse was worth the trip! And finding the Cypress Tree Tunnel along the way made for great photo...More

We stopped at the cypress tunnel, the lighthouse, did the chimney rock trail, and had a picnic lunch at the North Beach. I highly suggest stopping at the visitor's center first to hear the weather conditions out by the lighthouse. We lucked out and had...More

We walked to Limantour Beach. The views were amazing. We went on a weekday so it wasn’t crowded. We missed out on the lighthouse because it is not open on Wednesday’s.

Rangers were very helpful. Make sure to stop by the visitors center. WE enjoyed walking on the beach and looking for birds.

Point Reyes seashore national Park is the best place I've ever hiked in my life! I advise all people that have ever lived to do this. The view to drake's estero from the ridge while we picnic'd was a once in a life time experience.

I didn't encounter any on my hikes in May; the only plants I saw that were close enough to brush against were tall grasses and wildflowers.

Maybe not. Pier 39 you can see them up close and smell them as well. Best place to see killer whales and grey whales as well as dolphins is in the Monterey Bay. They have tours there everyday of the year. If you... More

Most of the trails in Pt Reyes would be challenging perhaps for your mother. The trails to the ocean sights are more than .5 mile. Here are the exceptions: Limantour Beach- good drive up and walk way across lagoon for... More
