You can see the highlights of this wonderful place in a day...Bear Valley Visitor Center, Drakes Bay, Point Reyes Lighthouse and Sea Lion Overlook. But stay longer and explore the beaches, picnic and hike the many trails. We were fortunate to have beautiful sunny weather with no fog or wind. The Bear Valley Visitor Center is a good place to... The views are spectacular, the weather can be a challenge but that can be fun too. I remember being here as a kid when the wind was so strong we held our coats open, like wings, and fell back into the wind and we were held up. Recently went out there, and it is just a special place. The lighthouse... More

Do not go to this beach for swimming! Hop over to Drakes, or head down to Limantour for ocean waves or to Hearts Desire for Tomales bay water fun :)) ================================================================= The boys were ansty after 5 days cooped up the house due to winter weather (no california rain jokes, please) so we took the afternoon off and headed over... Great park to see and enjoy you can easily spend 2-3 days there. Nice sunny day for January- Whales were easy to spot passing close by the historic lighthouse! One day is not enough time to spend at this great park

Elephant Seals, Sea Anemones, Elk, Deer, Whales, Dolphins to see all for free with the exception of a 7 shuttle fee during peak hours. If you get to the park before the shuttle service you can drive around on your own. About 1.5 hours from the main visitor center to the ones further into the park. Buses stop running at... More

The scenery here is unmatched. In January we saw elephant seals pupping and whales near the lighthouse. Chimney Rock Trail and McClure's Beach are especially recommended.

Our second visit to this park and there will be more. The weather dictates the nature of your visit, of course. I would leave the motor home in camp on these roads...narrow and bumpy. We enjoy going to the light house but there are many steps down to reach it. There is an overlook. Once when we visited we were... More

So much to do and see. Miles of great trails, some equestrian-friendly; a great visitor center; beautiful sand beaches and bluffs; the Tule elk; the lighthouse; camping; and mushroom foraging. Beach fires are allowed with a permit obtained at a visitor center. There is so much to do it cant all be seen in one day. I recommend two -... More

Yes! We did see whales spouting! We were here on Dec 18. It was chilly but sunny and the day was glorious! Not too many people either. We stopped at the Visitors Center and they told us where to go. Thank! We visited the light house, the seashore and the elephant seal overlook-all must do's! The lighthouse has a small... More
