A job well done

We like stopping at museum's in small towns, it gives us an idea of what was important to that area. This museum was put together very nicely. Lot's of fun stuff.

Housed in a adorable building, the Plumas Museum is not only a comprehensive archive, but has a very good range of displays to engage all ages. I had made an appointment to do some research and was graciously welcomed with my scanner and notebooks etc. The staff was so very, very helpful in helping me find the files I needed.... More

There is a lot of history still apparent in this town, such as buildings from the early 1900's and the museum has loads of background information. The director, Scott Lawson, is an avid historian and loves his county. There are great displays for any visitor to see and lots more to learn in searching their voluminous archives. We bought a... Those interested in Plumas County area mining, Maidu Indians, and mid-1800 era living should stop in. An especially nice collection of mining equipment and Maidu Indian baskets. I was lucky enough to visit with 4th graders on a field trip so I got to see inside the restored 1878 Coburn-Variel House, too. Definitely worth the $2 admission.

There's not a lot of indoor attractions in Q-Town, so a visit here may be to your liking. Two floors of displays, a library, a barn, and some outdoor displays in the rear.

Scouting out the Quincy area we visited this incredible museum and the exhibits it offers. The one museum staff member was friendly and knowledgable. The admission fee is well worth it and we highly recommend for visitors to the area. Plumas County has a rich history on display.

We had a young man from the museum who came to the campground and told some of the history of the area.

One of the best small museums I have been to in many years. The perfect size and filled with the history of Plumas County and Quincy from the Gold Rush era to today. Scott Lawson, is very helpful and funny too. Enjoy it every time we visit.

Thank Valerie N
