This was a very interesting and historical refurbishing of a victory ship in California. There was dinner, dancing and fireworks for the 4th of July. The docent tours were very informative given by volunteers. The docent giving our tour showed us his cabin where he...More

We took the docent led tour and it was fascinating to hear and learn about the ship and the docent's experiences. It made the history "real." The engine room was great and we liked the discussion with the radio/morse code operator. Fascinating to learn how...More

We went to the Red Oak Victory after Rosie the Riveter National Park, and found it both interesting and frustrating. They've tried to do a lot with a little, making the ship accessible but also denying entry into many of the most interesting areas. It...More

Gorgeous waterfront spot on the edge of San Francisco Bay in Richmond's historic Shipyards District. You can drive or bicycle: the WWII ship is at the very end of Canal Blvd. The Bay Trail runs next to the ship. More sights at this location, including...More

In addition to the great tour and friendly people volunteering on the Red Oak there are World War II themed movies at different times of the year. Such fun, but bring your own pillow. The Red Oak also has pancake breakfasts on Sundays during the...More

Having visited the Lane Victory in Long Beach, it was interesting to compare her to the Red Oak Victory here in Richmond. The Lane Victory is pretty much fully restored and in great condition - the Red Oak is, by comparison, a work in progress....More

We took a tour and it's fascinating, lots of history after WWII too. The Red Oak has a beautiful view. Be sure to see the Captain's room. Some Sundays in the summer there are pancake breakfasts, also there are movie nights. Worth a visit.
