Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

The service was pathetic...bored attendants who really didn't care much about whether you stayed or left. The wine wasn't exceptional, you get better stuff for much less price at the supermarket. The worst was the unmistakable racial undertone. People were treated more attentively and served fuller portions, depending upon your skin color! SERIOUSLY! After having driven all those miles, paying... More

My husband and I stopped here for a tasting yesterday and even though we were an hour early they quickly accommodated us with a great table on their beautiful porch! Shannon poured our flight and was so nice and knowledgeable. I like that they give you a little menu and pour all the wines at once and you can taste/compare... More

Frogs Leap Merlot is worth the trip. But it's the gardens that make Frogs Leap look beautiful. Sitting outside means you are walking to a small bar to get your next tasting but it's no big deal. Go for the wine, stay for the gardens.

We enjoyed our tasting here. The setting was beautiful. We sat out on the porch and had a beautiful view. The resident dog is adorable and very friendly. Wine was delicious.

My favorite tasting experience of the trip, hands down. If you want a quiet, romantic, relaxing tasting, then this is the place. We sat at a high top table on the porch in two cushioned chairs. Corrine set up our glasses, gave us a plate of cheese, crackers, almonds and peach jam and told us all about their farming practices.... More

This is the only winery we visited that I HAD to do a review for. Incredible! We did the $25 tasting on the porch, and it was nearly magical. We walked the grounds as they poured the wines, and we kept saying "we wish all wineries were just like this one". The staff was so nice and knowledgeable, and the... More

Have been enamored with Frogs Leap wines for almost 30 years. Had to get to the winery which gives a great value tour and tasting. People couldn't have been nicer or poured more wine. Not your "Palace Winery" but just as good in it's way.

Wine in the morning? Frog's Leap was a great start. We had a table on the porch with wine, cheese, crackers, etc. Excellent wines. I'm more of a white wine person so they brought out some additional whites for me to try. Great "wine experience."

Absolute charming and romantic settings, great attentive service, nice complimentary extras such as a cheese platter was provided. Beautiful house and garden, kids were welcomed too as well as pets. A winery going the extra mile which is worth a visit. Try the blushing frog!!

Oh my goodness, this winery was awesome! When we pulled up it felt like we were going to visit friends (very wealthy friends). But seriously, the grounds are amazing and the tasting center felt like someone's home! We were greeted by friendly staff and immediately seated on the porch. It was chilly outside but the heaters were working and there... More
