Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

Best location in Napa

Definitely get the view from the second floor of the barn and walk the property with a glass of wine.

I will make time to be at Frog's Leap every time I am in the area! The experience is always superb. We had to change our Tour & Tasting last minute to just a Tasting because my husband broke his leg. They were very understanding and accommodating. We sat on the porch and enjoyed wines brought to us by Dana.... More

I loved this winery, Brandy served us a series of 6-7 wines which were all very good. The grounds are beautiful to roam and the wine is pretty good. Very enjoyable afternoon and the wines are reasonably priced.

With Frog's Leap's large barn, animals, abundant gardens, and organic approach it's very easy to see that winemaking has farming at its roots. That's what made Frog's Leap the perfect place to visit with our teenagers. The grape growing and winemaking process was discussed artfully and scientifically. Our whole group was engaged throughout. Make no mistake this is not an... More

Loved the beautiful farm-like property. They have built a lovely tasting room with lots of wood and comfortable tasting areas. Our wine host, Dana, did a superb job taking us through our wine tasting experience and then touring us around the property. We enjoyed the wines very much. Add this to your list if you are in the area.

Our inn in napa booked us a reservation here, highly recommending as her favourite winery! Well what a treat!! We sat out in their patio and tasted 6 generous pours of wine each with cheese, soaking up the atmosphere and scenery. Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon were all wonderful. They have great grounds with lovely trees, a chicken coup and... More

Nice little winery, beautiful setting, very knowledgeable staff - what more could you ask. Truly enjoyed their wines, and walking around their grounds was a treat.

We cannot wait to come back. Everything about Frog's Leap is amazing - the unique porch setting for your tasting overlooks an incredible view which includes their garden. Frog's Leap is definitely unique and different from other wineries we have visited. Wine is tasty and staff is friendly - you won't be disappointed with this visit!

Up front, we did;t go for a tasting and hadn't reserved. However they did off us some tasters of the wines and we had a walk around the gardens. All really nice and very organic/relaxed. It was very busy and clearly popular as there was a sign saying they were full for tastings. We bought 3 bottles and a gift... More
