This is the reconstructed fort, but that reconstruction was done in the nineteenth century so it's almost as historic as the original.

Who knew that although gold was discovered nearby that Sutter had such and adventurous life. I visited Sutter's Fort as a child and was in Sacramento for a few days. So we went to visit the Fort. $5 admission for a self guided tour. There...More

Enjoyed learning about the history of Captain Sutter and the role that he played in settling Sacramento. The fort is a place to visit to see what is still standing along with the organization and daily life the settlers had. There is a fee to...More

There was a lot of history covered in this park through a self-guided tour of the facility. Metered parking on the street costs $1.75/hour. If you don't linger too much over the exhibits, you can cover everything in an hour. Admission to the park is...More

There was a good amount to see at the Fort and I found the information very educational. The map of the fort that was provided was helpful in ensuring I saw it all in a logical order.

Although only the central building is original the restoration of the outer wall and accompanying buildings has been completed in a competent and realistic way, the information and displays are informative and the whole experience is quite immersive.

The fort has always been amazing. Great to teach kids about California History. Really well laid out and their events are really impressive as well.

The docent in the upper room of the original central building shared fascinating stories of people and their activities...More

There is metered parking on the street on most sides of the fort. We didn't have any trouble finding a spot and we were there mid-day in July.

We brought in water bottles and had no comments. I do not know if food or OTHER beverages are restricted. I believe the Indian Museum next door restricts food and drinks so it may apply as well. I will check.
