This is a great place to visit to get another version of California history. I would recommend starting your visit by attending the movie, first. It starts at 10:15 am and then every hour, so plan your entrance. Then stick around for a 30-40 minute tour with a volunteer who knows it all. Very informative and then go and explore... More

To be honest, my boyfriend and I walked in here to escape the 100-degree weather, and I was truly amazed at how much I loved this museum. There is so much information contained in this small-looking building. It's not just for people who love trains, but anyone who wants a better appreciation of how the advent of the rail system... We go as often as possible. Its a great family outing or just a day out. So much to look at. My dad worked at SP as did most of my Italian Family. Just love it. Such a well done museum. Will become a member this year

I took my grandchildren on Saturday, 5 and 3. We walked the floor and saw all of the big rolling stock and locomotives. Then we went upstairs to see the simulator and then the Thomas train area on the 3rd floor. Of course they liked that the best, but they were really good at looking at all of the "big... More

This is a trip through history. Walking through the old passenger cars of different types recalled fond memories.

What a great museum for the California history of trains, locomotives, tenders, passenger cars, dining cars, sleepers and cabooses, both public and private. The museum also has a very knowledgeable staff to make the visit even more special. Also included, Gift Store and Midel RR Center.

Come here if you like trains or American pioneer history. The museum is staffed by railroad retirees, who always have interesting insights to share.
