Not What You'd Expect.

OK. So it's just a place where water gets sucked into the city's water system. But, there is a little more. They could have just put up a concrete box, but they didn't. It's... read more

Better things to see in Sacramento. Cannot reccomend for local folk or visitors from other locales. Candidly it seems a "thirsty" boring attraction. I advise against spending your investment of time for the return.

OK. So it's just a place where water gets sucked into the city's water system. But, there is a little more. They could have just put up a concrete box, but they didn't. It's actually little piece of architectural art. Plus there is a little park and great views of the river. Photographers will want to be there just as... More

close to downtown, a nice place to contemplate your next vacation or upcoming baseball season If you are bike riding very close to Old Town and Discovery Park.

Thank you Sacramento for making this a public place. It is an excellent way to get out on the water without a boat. The intake building is out in the river channel and you can walk out on it like a pier.

Very interesting to see how not only this city but other cities get their water and the machinery used to get it and purify it.

This one is just a go by and look, done in a few minutes. Still cool to see. One can see the large pumps where the water is sucked out of the river for the Sacramento water supply.

You would never know what this place is...ultra modern steel/glass architecture - a lot of glass to see the generators at work...like looking through a glass wall in a small brew house. Good walking trail along the river or drive to it..you can see it from Hwy 5 as you approach downtown Sacramento...some parking at the facility. A favorite lunchtime... More

The City's new intake is architecturally intriguing -- a dragonfly theme. From the intake in the Sacramento River, one can look north to the confluence of the Sac and the American Rivers, often littered with boats. The historic diversion facility is also upstream. Look south to the Tower Bridge, and Old Sacramento. Check out the fish embedded in the concrete... More
