This was our second stay at Wild Things B&B an we love this place. Instead of rooms at an Inn, you get to stay in an African tent on a mesa overlooking the animal compound. The best part however is that each morning two African elephants bring you breakfast on the deck in front of your tent. Both times, we've... More

They are building a zoo!!! Owner is not only a well known animal trainer from Hollywood but a true animal lover! Educational tours by knowledgeable staff is a definite plus!

we stayed in the pachyderm palace luxury tent cabin, did the 1pm tour, fed the big cats & put the elephants to bed . before it was the Monterey zoo the facility trained animals for movies, etc. it is now a non profit zoo for retired animals, like the elephants, as well as other animals from zoos. most of the animals... Wild things or what they now call the Monterey zoo is a hidden gem in Monterey country. Started as a refuge for trained movie animals it has grown into a great little zoo and elephant sanctuary. The movie star lions, tigers and bears have pass a while ago, but they have been replaced by other future stars. Wild things is... More

Accompanied tours only. They have educational programs and care for the animals in the am. Tours are at 1:00. Call and double check. Ask about bed & breakfast and party spaces.

They advertise being open from 8am to 5pm...but NOTHING but a small gift shop is available till the 1pm tour. There were 8 of us wanting to see the animals, but there was no seeing animals till the tour. Very disappointing. Why say they are open when there is nothing to do or see until 1pm?

Hi Susan, I am sorry for the confusion on our hours. Our business office is open from 8am-6pm this allows our Bed & Breakfast guests to utilize our services and our gift shop during those hours. All of our phone prompts, website pages, and property signs clearly indicate our tour hours. We have a tour at 1pm every day, except... More

The facility is only open at 1:00 for a tour. Gates are closed and it is not a walk around on your own facility. I took a seven year old. The group was split into two. Our group was in the front and extra people were added several times. I believe we had twenty five? At several cages, the guide... More

Did the 1 pm tour and elephant feeding in November with my MIL and SIL. It was a great experience!!! The tour host was warm, friendly, entertaining, and engaging, which made for a fun hour. We got to see many of the animals during the tour, and the grounds were mid-expansion, so we saw some of the new exhibits as... More

Excellent zoo//sanctuary. Animals are very well cared for and the enclosures were immaculate. The people there were quite friendly and you can tell they love the animals and their jobs.

I wasn't sure about this attraction when it was first suggested that we should visit it. It sounded like someone trying to make money from there poorly kept exotic animal collection. I was wrong. When you get there, you see the animals in small enclosures, but then towards the end you see the new enclosures that are being constructed in... More
