With real training, this house might have been a masterpiece. Instead it became its creator's "folly," with architectural peculiarities that were probably a result of brilliant ideas that just didn't work out. It was great fun to encounter staircases to nowhere, cupboards with walls behind...More

We visited the Winchester House while on vacation and really enjoyed it. It is worth the time to see the house. Unfortunately our kids were to young to go on the extended tour which probably would have been really interesting. You could spend all day...More

We'd heard about this place and seen signs for it every time we've visited San Jose and just never went. With Helen Mirren starring in the film, which we haven't seen yet, we figured this was the trip to see this house. Quit a marvel...More

I can’t imagine what people of that period thought of all the construction that went on continually. The gardens and grounds are gorgeous and from the outside, you would never guess how the ‘house’ was constructed.

I was so excited to go here, I watched documentaries for years about this place. I am glad I went but I guess one of the things that kind of took away from the experience is there is no furniture in the home. The house...More

Good place to explore, go on a date, or get inspired by the crazy architecture and creepy history. I've been here three times, and I still find it fun. Each trip has been different for me, even though I went on the same tour each...More

Brought our three kids aged 8, 10 & 12 and they were interested and engaged the entire time. Some idiot was making ghostly “woo woo” sounds which freaked my 8 year old out a bit but that was it. They showed the movie trailer at...More

Hotel Valencia is very good and it’s in the middle of all action with excellent vibes, restaurant and shops. I recommend if you have kids visit the Tech museum in downtown San Jose.
