Gombei's whiteboard is a consistent source excellent of lunch / dinner eats (and great value). Bamboo7 - new owners, but as much karaoke as anyone can reasonably handle!

San Jose's Japantown is about to receive a major expansion. The empty five-acre "Corporation Yard" is slated for a huge and unique development later this year. Meanwhile, at least one of the historic buildings, the ancient Ken Ying Low building has been tastefully restored and now features a unique Chinese restaurant, Wenzhou Fish, Noodles & More. More historic buildings are... More

It's not a huge area but parking is available (metered as well as a by the hour lot.) Most of the restaurants in this area is good. It can be pricey I like going there for a quiet date.

Looking for some yummy Shabu Shabu? Pokey Sticks? A nice tea set or fancy chopsticks? Japantown in San Jose can provide. There's a great little grocery store, several good restaurants and shops.

One of my favorite areas of San Jose, took my wife to eat here on our first date, practiced martial arts in various locations in the few blocks. I helped to remodel older buildings there as well

My husband and I recently moved to downtown San Jose and we walked over to Japantown. We absolutely loved it! Yes, it isn't a huge part of San Jose but it is still an important part. We read all the plaques along the sidewalk and we learned a lot about Japanese American history. There are lots of neat shops and... More

There are three Japantown's remaining in California, SF, LA and San Jose. The last of these is the most authentic of them all. It truly is a community. Quiet streets not choked off with chains or cheesy Hello Kitty infused stores-but real gift shops like Nichi Bei Bussan, a store with anything Japanese and the warmest people you can meet.... More

My daughter and I came here to do some shopping. The employees were all very friendly. We enjoyed a few shops but were disappointed there wasn't more variety. I also should have checked the hours before we came - we got there around 10:30 to find most of the shops were still closed, so we had to wait around. We... More
