This is a great stop for some history and to relax. The grounds are beautiful and i can imagine sitting on a bench and reading a book in the courtyard. We took our young boys here and they were able to run around and get out some energy while also learning some California History.

Loved our visit to the Mission San Luis Obispo. I am new to California and was pleasantly surprised about the facts about the Missions along the coast. The church is in the center of Downtown SLO. It gives you space to move throughout the church at your leisure. They also had a guided tour at 1:15 if you wanted to... More

This mission is a great place to go if you want to find more out of the history of the missions. There are many great items to look at in the museum part. There is also a church in this mission, and that is a really great historical insight. There was also a gift shop, of many interesting items, it... More

It could be 1817 or 1917 once you walk in the doors you step back in time. A must see for anyone who has not had the Mission experience. In the heart of town this Mission is special now and always has been. Right on the San Luis Creek it is the treasure of the City. Sit on the steps... More

We got there in to hear the bells at noon - so glad we did. It was cool to know there's really a guy ringing them - the kids flipped out because it was just like in the Disney movie Hunchback! After, we walked along the river just below the church - fun place for the kids to cross on... More

This mission was beautiful and interesting. We did a self guided tour on a weekday morning. It was not crowded, so we were able to really take our time as we walked through. The grounds were gorgeous as well. What we liked most about this mission was its size. It was smaller than some of the other missions we visited.... More

The Spanish Empire through its desire to stretch around the globe, established the mission system to build outposts in Mexico and along the California coast. Some of the history and artifacts of the Chumash Indians is shared here in the museum. At some point the mission housed workshops, soldiers' barracks, an infirmary, priests quarters, a jail and courthouse. This is... More
