Today on a motorcycle trip I visited the 10th Mission of 21 so just about half way done. I went to church at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa all the time as a kid and again in the late 70s before I moved away....More

This is an active parish and location of an old mission church. The grounds are pleasant and the museum provides a history of the Spanish Mission churches and has multiple artifacts and images depicting the history of this Mission. Plan on 30 minutes minimum. No...More

I love the flowers and birds painted on the inside walls of this church. Nice gardens outside in season. Interesting history. Free at this time to view church.

Had to come back here 55+ years later to see it again. My dad was stationed at Vandenburg, and my mom took all of us kids here. I remember the white stucco walls and the tile type flooring. It was a treat to relive a...More

This mission has been well cared for and looks as though it has had some repainting of the frescos. I was lucky enough to attend a concert here as part of the annual Festival Mozaic.

If you have never visited a mission it is worth the visit and readily located adjacent to shopping if you are out and about looking around slo. I would not specifically go there just for the mission.

We wandered down to learn more about the Spanish Catholic mission system and the connection with Toulouse (where I once lived). Well preserved monument and chapel. Still in use as we experienced.

Absolutely worth your time to stop, explore the grounds, then enter history as you tour the monastery and learn about the origins of San Luis Obispo as well as the early European explorers of California, the native tribes, and the relationship they developed.

This is a very traditional Spanish mission. Old beams and petite gardens with tiny alcoves in the typical style of many California missions give a sense of peace as you walk through.
