I had a FaceTime appointment with Emily for a private shopping appointment since I live out of town. What a fabulous experience! She gave me a tour of the store and I was able to closely view the Christmas ornaments. What a fantastic selection! I purchased ornaments for myself and for my family members. Emily shipped them to my house and it was exciting to open the box and revisit what I purchased. This will be a yearly FaceTime shopping trip for me!

The Ah Lewis store is very old and has been there for ages. The building is interesting as are the things sold there.
In past years the Ah Lewis store was almost always closed, rarely open. However, just recently it has been open almost every day now. Well worth going in and checking it out. There is a bit of free parking in the rear of the store.

I visited here for the very interesting history associated with Ah Louis and for the architecture of this unique building, which remains largely as it was when built, outside and inside. The party events business inside also seems quite nice. We’re fortunate that this slice of history has been preserved. Stop by.

I stumbled in on accident and am so happy that I did! I have been able to find the perfect party decorations, balloons, and speciality gifts every time I've visited!

okay, so i love historical architecture. it just really speaks to me. i pass this building regularly when i walk to my various haunts in the old town. the interior has the floor to ceiling built in shelves that you would find in an old grocery/mercantile space. it's been a crazy array of shops in the years i have been here and often not open. it's an event coordinators shop now though with some really great products. it's definitely worth the jaunt to see the place if you are in san luis. just another fascinating piece of area history.

The store is no longer Chinese theme, it is an event shop that sells wonderful things for weddings, birthday parties, etc. I wasn't even shopping for an event, but bought an adorable market notepad (magnetic notepad you can put on your fridge to list your grocery items). The building is a historical landmark and the exterior is untouched, still very interesting to see.

This store needs to be returned to its original offerings...Come what may it's a part of the Chinese History of that part of town that was the Chinese community of SLO Town. Next door is a Parking structure diggings found when building it can be seen thru the glass floor....refuse from a different place in time....

If you are looking for a special gift for a friend, need party supplies that are above the rest or are looking for event planning. You must go to KarsonButler located inside. You will not be disappointed!

Next to the mission, the oldest Chinese store in the country! Still doing business. Come see the mission, can't miss it. Same street, opposite side.

This is a fun party supply store run by a couple of sisters. They actually have an event company and their offices are here but the 'store' part is open to the public and has a great assortment of different and unusual items to make any type of event super festive!
