No cellphone signal while you get to enjoy the views and a walk around the lake. Quite few butterflies and a very sunny day made of this spot a great place to enjoy nature.

Several different trails to hike, with wildflowers galore in spring. Even orchids! Nice sweeping views of you choose those trails and wildlife if you are quiet. Benches to sit on by the lake. The trail by the lake is partially handicapped accessible, with parking.

Great to visit for longer or shorter hikes. Easy walking since it is pretty level around the lake itself but you can also extend your walk on several more challenging trails, if you wish. Nice views. Not crowded, even on weekends.

We went hiking in the Skyline Ridge area and hiked out to Horseshoe Lake. This is probably the easiest hike from where we parked our car in this area. The lake is nice and we enjoyed a picnic there. One can also just rest there...More

Search for "Horseshoe Lake San Mateo County" in Google maps. It's in the mountains Southwest of Palo Alto. Just off Skyline Blvd (Highway 35) near the intersection with Page Mill Road.
