I went "off season" only a couple big bulls on the beach. Still, there were at least a hundred juveniles and females to see.

The seals are everywhere. Laying on the beach to playing in the ocean. Their is people there to answer any questions about the elephant seals. It's so beautiful watching them in there own habitat. A must see if ever anywhere near San Simeon CA.

A must if in the area. We saw whales out at sea but see the seals up close are the real attraction. They were awesome. Easy parking and short little walk. Beautiful scenery. There was a volunteer who patiently answered all of my sons' questions and even mine. Even walked south to an overlook of the pacific and a lighthouse.... More

We've been many times to see these elephant seals. This time we brought friends from the U.K. with us. They really enjoyed the seal activity and couldn't believe their eyes! It's so peaceful to stand there behind the fence and ooh and ahh the spectacle going on. The big Bulls fighting for territory and the females laying in the sun... More

I was at Hearst Castel in Feb., mating season for the Elephant Seals. Don't miss this free attraction. These huge seals are amazing to watch. The E-Seal News says there are seals to be seen all year long. Don't miss it.

This is a beguiling attraction, as you can see a large group of elephant seals on the beach. There is a car park so you can park your car and stroll to the observation decking. The location is a short driving distance from San Simeon and Hearst Castle, and if you're in the area, it's well worth stopping by and... More

Everyone told us to not miss this rookery and they were right. It's incredible to see an entire stretch of beach covered in seal pups and adolescent male elephant seals. The nice surprise was that there are volunteers who act as great sources of information about the seals. Apparently every month there is a slightly different group of seals who... More

Literally, this is five minutes from the Hearst Castle entrance. Multiple viewing areas with opportunities to get within 40' of lounging elephant seals. It's an apt name for them because some of them appear to be 10' long and weigh 2-4 tons. A bonus is that there's a 1/4 mile footbridge along the beach. So, you can get in some... More
