Our Natural History History Museum is a great, hands-on small museum in a spectacular setting inside and out. Be sure to wander all the halls (Native American Chumash and flora and fauna - love the birds and insects) as well as the special exhibits - the whale skeleton, butterflies alive and planetarium, and outside grounds. Several Arts, Wine and Cultural... More

We lived the museum! We arrived Tuesday around 1PM, just as the school kids were leaving. Perfect!! My husband is an austringer, so the visiting birds of prey exhibit was perfect!! Love the local Chumas Indian artifacts & history.

This museum has now expanded from its Mission site to the Sea Center location at the pier giving all wonderful exposure to sea life as well as dinosaurs, minerals, trips to the stars, and visits to butterflies coming alive and in your face. The best part of this museum is its diversity of real life experiences from Athena the OWL... More

This is a very small museum. Good for a 1 hour visit, but not much more than that. We thought there would be more exhibits.

This is a great little museum for kids. There's plenty that adults can learn about here as well. It's just around the corner from the Mission, but doesn't attract the hordes on buses. This was a nostalgic return visit for my husband (age 71), who used to come all the time as a child living nearby. Before we arrived, he... More

I'm a member of the Museum. I'd love to see some of it get updated especially on the inside. It's really quaint and a lot of the dioramas have some sad, dusty taxidermy. Some of this taxidermy smells... bad. The planetarium is small, but the guy that runs the shows is *super* knowledgeable. The videos he's forced to show need... More

This beautiful museum wishing walking distance of the city founding mission is tucked in a typical Santa Barbara sycamore canyon. The setting is both a calming and educational experience. Recent efforts to "modernize" and "digitize " this museum been beaten back.. for now. Take no chance, visit soon, before curation homogenize it's charm way.
