Overview
More
The Mystery Spot is a gravitational anomaly located in the redwood forests just outside of Santa Cruz, California. It is a circular area of effect around 150 feet or 46 meters in diameter. Within the Mystery Spot you will be stunned as your perceptions of the laws of physics and gravity are questioned. But don't take our word for it, come and decide for yourself! The Mystery Spot was discovered in 1939 by a group of surveyors and opened to the public in 1940. The Mystery Spot has amazed and perplexed hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world, and many return time and time again to experience these puzzling variations of gravity, perspective, and height. Some speculate that cones of metal were secretly brought here and buried in our earth as guidance systems for their spacecraft. Some think that it is in fact the spacecraft itself buried deep within the ground. Other theories include carbon dioxide permeating from the earth, a hole in the ozone layer, a magma vortex, the highest dielectric biocosmic radiation known anywhere in the world, and radiesthesia. Whatever the cause is, it remains a mystery.

The setting is in the forest, reminded me of Gravity Falls from the Disney Channel. I was astounded by the place and the weirdness of the whole tour. I saw things I could not explain and the feeling of the phenomena takes a little getting...More

My husband, a close friend and I had been to this place in early April. I didn’t have time to do any research before going so I didn’t know what to expect. Maybe that, or the company we had, or the talkative friendly guide was...More

The winding, bumpy, sometimes one lane roads there only add to the anticipation. The Mystery Spot is a Landmark! Not a place to spend all day but fun and surprisingly interesting. I’ve been a couple times and I still can’t figure out how they do...More

Hard to know what to make of this place, but it was far more interesting & "mysterious" than we anticipated. The 45-minute tour encompasses a very short but steep trail, a couple of strange tilted shacks, lots of demonstrations & pic opps ... & tons...More

The tour is very interesting. The staff is great and funny. It's not a very long tour but worth the ticket fee for sure!

It's an optical illusion. That's it. Your eyes/brain is playing tricks on you and your belly. If you just take a moment to focus on one single object while standing still, you will stop spinning. There is no magnetic field... More
