We had a group of 10 of us. Babies, teens, and adults. This is great for ALL ages! My 2 year old son was amazed at the steam coming out of the train and we all loved exploring the redwoods. We got some hot coco at the little general store before we got on and it was actually some of... More

Read the reviews and was a bit hesitant to try it, I mean a train seems a bit childish but boy was I wrong. First off, the setting is absolutely breathtaking; surrounded by redwoods that can reach 300 feet high is something I only dreamed about. The train itself is amazing too! The steam power is something to behold. The... More

One of the most fun things to do near santa cruz. We went and really enjoyed it. I loved the scenic trip through the redwood forest. I cannot vouch for the trip to the boardwalk as it was not open when we went because it was near to the end of the season. I can truly recommend this to anyone,... More

Beautiful country. Recommend the open cars as most of the route is under cover of the beautiful redwoods. The conductor was somewhat entertaining and knowledgeable. Would go again.

Went here with my family and my little nephew. It was a fun filled place with lots of things to see. Great wild West theme. We took a ride on the steam train and it was definitely the highlight of the trip. The ride went through a very scenic route and the guide was very informative. Bring your camera along... More

We had a fraternity reunion at Roaring Camp and the rail ride through the redwoods was one activity. Theta Chi brothers enjoyed the ride, talking more than gawking as their purpose was to reunite. It is a scenic little run, however.

Slow and boring, no commentary (like we were promised), up and back the same way, long stop in the middle of nowhere - this is the worst train experience we have ever had. And it's expensive! $27/person to be bored out of your minds for 1 1/2 hours. What a disappointment! Sorry we wasted vacation time on this.

A great half day activity. A train ride about an hour up into the redwoods to a picturesque little camp with a number of activities available. We chose to have a nice lunch (the cowboy BBQ) -- the BBQ ribs were excellent. Then a relaxing hour back to Santa Cruz.
