My wife and I just moved to Northern California and wanted to find a fun way to check out the Red Woods and all I can say is WOW! The entire experience was absolutely great. The staff is knowledgeable and had great stories to share about the area which was fun. But the train is classic and well maintained, if... More

Just like the little train that thought it could make it up the steep hill, this steam engine gives you the same feeling as you really see how clever the engineers were in navigating some very steep terrain in order to haul giant redwood logs out of the mountains. The conductor on the ride tells you all sorts of history... More

We climbed aboard the steam train and headed up the mountain. The view of the ancient redwoods was amazing and the ride on the 150-year-old train was great fun. When we got to the top of the hill, we had a chance to walk around a little. All in all, a satisfying hour-long trip.

Nestle in the redwood forest, you'll hear the rumble of the steam and the whistle. The whole attraction is very authentic. They run a loop route through the forest over a trestle. They also run a diesel train into Santa Cruz boardwalk. They host many special events: Thomas the tank engine, Civil War reenactment, Santa train.

We had a group of 10 of us. Babies, teens, and adults. This is great for ALL ages! My 2 year old son was amazed at the steam coming out of the train and we all loved exploring the redwoods. We got some hot coco at the little general store before we got on and it was actually some of... More

Read the reviews and was a bit hesitant to try it, I mean a train seems a bit childish but boy was I wrong. First off, the setting is absolutely breathtaking; surrounded by redwoods that can reach 300 feet high is something I only dreamed about. The train itself is amazing too! The steam power is something to behold. The... More

One of the most fun things to do near santa cruz. We went and really enjoyed it. I loved the scenic trip through the redwood forest. I cannot vouch for the trip to the boardwalk as it was not open when we went because it was near to the end of the season. I can truly recommend this to anyone,... More
