This is a really busy pier with lots going on, various entertainers and several eating places including the small fairground. You can also fish from here, plenty to keep you occupied and good fro people watching.

A packed place but worth the stop. Busy beach but plenty of it. Pier has amusement rides and tons of junky food and touristy stands. Fun.

The Pier was busy and vibrant. Worth going down for a look. We hired a push bike and rode to Venice beach and back. Something I highly recommend you do. I hadn't ridden a bike in 10yrs. Do it

The Santa Monica Pier affords some wonderful views. Licensed entertainers line the pier and there are games and carnival rides. Be sure to dine with a local restaurant if you choose to eat on the pier as there are a number of terrific choices.

Beautiful place, great view but beach is too crowded, as well as the pier. People eating by the beach and there were no garbage bins near the beach - huge miss from the local authorities.

We walked to it about 40 blocks. Not to crowded and a lot to see. We played on the beach and went into the ocean. Lots of rides and places to see.

Santa Monica Pier is worth visiting as it is recognizable from many movies and tv-series. Santa Monica Pier and Beach have way too many tourists for our taste but amazingly the Pier does not give you the feeling of claustrophobia even though there is a...More

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier. I think it would be a very cool place to go on a first date: great location, fun ambiance and very relaxed.
