We felt very welcome in the visitor center, and the receptionist explained to us how to get around. There is not much to do around the city, but walk around the main avenue between shops and restaurants. She also suggested going to the Boat houses, it is cute but not well signalized, so you really have to look for it... More

Sausalito is a pretty town just on the other side of Golden Gate Bridge with a wonderful walkway along the water and outstanding views of San Francisco, Alcatraz, and the Bay Bridge. Lots of nice shops and eateries. Lots of places to just stroll--beautifully maintained streets and walkways in the main tourist section of the town (near the marine). Can... More

We were very disappointed with Sausalito. We rode bikes over and could not believe they charge to park bikes. How sad!! We visited a lot of towns on our vacation and most didn't even charge for car parking.

We had some questions about San Francisco and the area. They were answered at the desk by a local who didn't know all the answers but with a yellow sticky pad, she gave us some things to look up. Plus a few pictures and things of local historical interest were displayed.

The visitor center was very helpful. The have maps of the area, and broachers for fun things to consider while you are visiting. As well as restaurants and hotels to consider. The staff can point you in the right direction if you are walking or riding a bike.

We stopped in the visitors center to grab a map because we could not figure out how to get to the lighthouse. They had maps on several National Parks and the local area which were very helpful and a sweet woman who was giving directions.

This is a small/tiny museum but it is packed with history and well worth a 15 minute aside. Blink and you will miss it.

More like a mini museum, small bldg. they offered brochures and maps. Next to public eye restrooms. Could have been more helpful...

Stop here and get info and history. The back room presents a pictorial history of Sausalito. Learn a great deal from reading to info attached to the pictures. And the woman in the front was very helpful in directing where to go to enjoy a one day visit to Sausalito. Stop here and visit with knowledge.
