- Ann HYork, United Kingdom2,524 contributionsPlenty to look at away from the hub of San FranciscoWe spent a morning in this beautiful area across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. Lovely weather contributed to a leisurely walk along the main boardwalk taking in the pretty colourful buildings and the views across the bay. Plenty of eateries and shops open on a Sunday morning and parking is plentiful.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 20, 2023
- Lisa T13 contributionsBirthday Girl’s Trip 2023The Sausalito Boardwalk is so cute. There are lots of shops open, even on a Sunday and there are plenty of food choices. We first stopped at the Sausalito Bakery for a quick early bite! Everything was delish. Then we walked around and bought some jewelry at the Prince Edward Estate shop. Then we had a reservation for a late lunch at Scoma’s. Our table was inside but by a window overlooking the bay. We even saw a cute seal poke its head up. I will definitely go back. It’s also a quick drive over the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco. Breathtaking views.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten September 21, 2023

Really lovely place to saunter around with twee little cafe's and boutique shops. Just siton a bench and admire the views of Alcatraz and FriscoVisited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 5, 2024

We also enjoyed a delicious Italian coffee and ate tasty Italian food at the Taste of Rome restaurant. It is a very beautiful and charming town.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten August 12, 2024

I was really surprised how busy it was when we tried to visit the boardwalk area on a Sunday afternoon. I just wasn't expecting so many people and bikes on the sidewalks and streets. We couldn't find any available parking in the few lots and side streets, so we decided to skip the visit and come back sometime during the weekday.
Coming back on Thursday morning was much less crowded (practically no one was here). We parked in lot #4 which was only $5 for the entire day. Note, that lots 1,2, & 3 are more expensive (especially in the summer).
Great views from the boardwalk. Lots of touristy shops and cafes. The entire historic district wasn't very long. I'm glad we stopped by but I don't expect us coming back again anytime soon.

A walk to remember alongside the ocean. It is a must place to visit to enjoy some great food, amazing natural beauty and great sight seeing. One can click some great pics while walking side by side the ocean and can even find some smallest of the crabs in this place. On one side you can walk beside the ocean and on the other side, you find some great eating outlets to spend a great evening time. one can also witness the San Francisco skyline from here as well.

We went here with a big group that included a bunch of kids. It was really pleasant to just walk around and enjoy the quaint atmosphere. There were a lot of small shops around the area that showcased some unique finds. Thankfully, the weather cooperated with us while we were there, as well - it was a bright, sunny afternoon. 😊

This is an expensive and not at all unusual tourist town.
Yes, there are nice views or San Francisco from the harbor, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.
There are many cutesy, expensive seaside towns in the world -- nothing extraordinary about this one.

The term “Sausalito Boardwalk” is used by various sources to refer to three different places in Sausalito. This review is about the section from Plaza Vina del Mar to the Pelican Yacht Habor. It was a pleasant walk along the waterfront, but you can't see San Francisco from this vantage point. Near the northern end, if you venture out on Johnson Street towards the harbor, you can see the Taj Mahal houseboat, a photographic curiosity and a hidden gem in Sausalito.

We stopped in Sausilito on a very nice day for lunch and a walk. There is ample parking (paid) near the downtown and boardwalk. We enjoyed the views of the water and the nice weather. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in the area.

Hi, We are planning to stop off in Sausalito for a few hours on our way to Muir Beach in early June. I was wondering where we can park?
Written April 4, 2018
many parking spaces. some paid space as well.

I cannot read your question but from the above responses, I think you want to know how to get to Sausalito.
We took an Uber from Chrissy Fields across the bridge which was not expensive.
The hop on hop off bus takes you to the bridge and then you can change buses there to go to Sausalito/Muir Woods. We took the ferry back which was lovely.
