Seems a very new operation. More of a show room than a really winery ( they don’t grow their own wines nor age on site ). Underwhelming experience

First, I'm not an experienced wine taster. Although I'm pretty sure they know a lot more about wine than many of the French competitors. At The Homewood winery the warm welcome was so great, and I mean really beyond anything I'm used to. The only regret I have, is that I couldn't buy anything to take home (restrictions on liquids on planes and import in the EU is crazy expensive). I guess there are many wineries in California and I didn't visit them all. But folks, please pay the Homewood winery a visit. You will be amazed by the quality and the excellent explanation during the wine tasting. And you will go home with a wonderful memory ! And remember, in these times making new memories is something you should cherish. The world isn't as big as it used to be, but the last two years teared us apart and by paying a visit to the Homewood winery you get proof that there are still people who follow their passion and that's truly inspiring.

We went to this winery during a Platypus Wine Tour and had a great time! The lady was very knowledgeable and taught us things didn’t know before. The Zinfandel port was my favorite, yum!!

Homewood Winery was a delight. We were able to taste seven different wines with a thorough explanation of each. The wines were excellent, and even better they were affordable. Loved getting to meet the winemaker. We will return to this friendly winery!

Stopped here on a Sonoma wine tour. Really enjoyed the six wines we tasted. Unfortunately, can’t ship them to Canada or I definitely would have shipped some home.

I've been to Homewood twice in the 2000's/early 2010's, while on different northern Cali camping trips with a Sac'to friend. I liked their dry reds. First time, I recall, they said the owner had SIUE roots so that was close to home as I come from the town of SIUC. Like early southern Illinois vineyards, the tasting room was not pretentious and the wine goddesses were friendly. Prices were more reasonable for Sonoma/Napa. Right now in 2019, I'm finally drinking their 2009 Petite Sirah that has cellared to something more like a Rhone (think GSM after all). Their Petite Verdot is still waiting for me, and I've already enjoyed the other purchases some years ago.

P.S. I did not visit Homewood in Jan. 2019, but this review form gave me no earlier dates to select. See my comment above re time of visit.

We arrived on a Saturday in the late morning, and the place was hopping with tour vans and other couples. Our party of four met with the owner and one of his assistants at the tasting bar for a delightful series of tastings that included elaboration about the growing conditions, thought processes behind the decision-making, and even some chocolate to try with certain wines. It was AMAZING to speak with the winemaker himself who could speak to what he was trying to achieve with each wine. The environment, the owner/winemaker, and the wine were all unpretentious and so enjoyable! We each ordered a case to have sent to our home, and it was very reasonable. We were happy that we could mix and match our cases, too! REALLY loved his Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel.

We did a full day tour with A Taste of San Francisco and Homewood Winery was our favorite stop. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, we even met the owner. Thoroughly enjoyed the tasting too - it was casual, informational, and we never felt rushed. They took the time to answer all our questions. Excellent wines and we ended up buying a case. Would definitely recommend a visit to this small winery.

This was a cute little vineyard! The host was extremely nice and educated with the wines! Typically most people ignore the smaller vineyards and go for the more popular one’s, but this place was such a good find! The tasting was $10 bucks I believe AND there was “buy a bottle, get one for FREE” special going on that day! Such a deal and loved my bottles of the Veranda White!!!
