A+ all around at Alpine Meadows from the parking attendant to the instructors at the ski school to the folks in the rental shop who made our first family ski trip an absolutely incredible and seamless experience. Honestly it is rare to come across service this fantastic anymore. It was incredible to see my kids skiing for the first time! I'm already trying to figure out when we can plan another trip! I absolutely recommend the ski school!

I had an amazing day at Alpine Meadows. I skied on a Thursday and it was empty. Never waited more than a minute on line all day. Most of the employees were incredibly friendly and the rental shop folks were awesome. Food at the Ski Chalet was great. Terrain was amazing and the views were epic. Wonderful grooming. One of my favorite days skiing ever.

First time to ski Alpine Meadows and we loved it. The groomers do an amazing job with the snow. Skied the Summit chair over and over and it is a great long run and so fun. Definitely want to return here!

We went to Alpine Meadows Stables for both a two hour mountain ride for our adult daughter and her twelve year old son and a hand led pony ride for our four year old grandson. Our daughter said the trail ride was fun snd the guides were experienced. I hand led our grandson on a well mannered 30 year old pony. The horses are well groomed and their coats are shiny. They are open from 9am to 6pm and reservations are strongly recommended.

Thank you for your review, dlynns2016! While we don't run the horseback riding trail rides in Alpine Meadows, we're glad to hear your family enjoyed their time in the mountains.

Skiing was great but they have problems with their lifts. Every time you pass a tower on the chairlifts you get sprayed with a thick black oil. It gets all over your clothes and face and doesn’t wash out. We thought it was just the treeline cirque lift so moved to a different lift but the problem is present with all their lifts. If you look down on the snow you will also easily see the dark oil stains on the snow. Best advice is to wear old clothes you don’t mind throwing away because the oil stains do not wash out.

Beautiful ski area. Designed for the more advanced skier - lots of blues and black runs. Only 2-3 green runs. This is not a large resort - much smaller than neighboring Squaw Valley but really nice. We enjoyed our day here a lot. Great views of Lake Tahoe from the top of the Lakeview lift.

We just spent a week at Squaw/Alpine. Did not know much about Alpine Meadows but were quickly won over as fans. Easy lift system, beautiful vistas and excellent t terrain. Resort hosts really knowledgeable and exceptionally friendly.

My husband and I snowboarded one day at Squaw Valley, then the next day went to Alpine Meadows. We loved both mountains, but would say Alpine was our favorite! The runs were groomed and the snow was great. Beautiful views. Lots of wide open runs, but still some through the trees for variety. We went on a Thursday so it wasn't crowded at all. The mountain was easy to navigate and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Only blue and black runs though, so probably not the greatest for beginners.

Hi Sarah. Thanks so much for taking the time to write this great review. Alpine Meadows really is a hidden gem and the groomers do an excellent job. You are right about there not being as many beginner runs. While there are the Meadow and Subway lifts, Squaw Valley has far more beginner terrain to choose from. We hope that you will visit us again soon!

If you are coming to the Tahoe area to ski you probably want to check out more than one ski area. They all have different vibes. Alpine Meadow has a funky, retro family vibe. It is not as polished as Northstar, not as extensive as Heavenly, or quite as radical as Squaw although it has its share of steeps and hike to terrain. There is plenty to ski there, a d can’t selection of intermediate terrain and groomers, and great views of the lake from the backside. Base facilities are basic but adequate. The lift system is modern and on MLK weekend we did not have to deal with any lines longer than 5 minutes.mm. There is no village and food and shopping options are minimal, but skiing is great. I say at least one day there if you have a week in the area.

Smaller than it's big sister next door, Squaw Valley, it's a great mountain with good snow and tough terrain if you want it or cruiser runs if you don't. Really is diverse.
