Brought a group of teenagers here and they loved it. They went sledding. Make a reservation online. Parking is chaotic. They provide the saucers, you cannot use your own. Hill gets icier in the afternoon. There is a house to warm us and get a hot chocolate or hot spiced wine. There are some chairs for observers, but if you have some in your car, bring your own.

Took my family to stay at Granlibakken Resort. We went to Ski and Sled Area on Thursday Nov 24, 2022 and had a great fun experience. Highly recommend for families with children. Highlight of this experience was two gentlemen at the Rental office. one of them was Rod and I forgot the name of the other Gentleman. Great Customer service.

They have a good sled hill (groomed) and they provide sleds. If you are a guest of Granlibakken (booked direct with resort) prices are 50% off! We originally booked spots for our kids, but it was a bit much for our little guy (nearly 5) to haul the sled to the top of the hill on his own, so we paid for one of us to go with the kids. Pretty fun and fast!

My family and I were on vacation in Kings Beach and we went to Granlibakken for Ski lessons for the girls (5 & 8) and sledding. Granlibakken is relatively small with one ski run, 2 hills for sledding, and a snow play area. Since it was Covid times they were limiting the number of people so it was important to make reservations for any of the activities in advance. They do a great job with sending reminder e-mails in advance with everything you need to know. Also it is important to arrive at least 45 minutes to 1 hour early for lessons so that you can get fitted with all the necessary gear. The ski instructor for the girls (JB) was awesome. He was enthusiastic and kept the kids motivated to continue even when they got a little tired. By the end of the day, they were both proud of themselves for all they had accomplished. The ski lessons here were also MUCH less expensive than the surrounding ski resorts. The sledding was a blast for the family. There is a kiddie hill and a longer steeper hill. We ended up sledding for 2 days because we had so much fun. I highly recommend it as a great place for kids lessons and sledding.

Great location near downtown Tahoe City, the Lake, restaurants and skiing at Squaw and Alpine Meadows. Fun for families with sledding and ziplining on site. Super convenient for families especially when you stay in a studio with a kitchen and stove. Mattresses in our room - 14A definitely need replacing as worn and sag in the middle. Other than that, highly recommended

Thanks for your review Bailey, we feel that our resort's proximity to so many great experiences is a huge plus about staying with us too. I have forwarded your comment about the mattress to the relevant manager who will check it out, and then report it to the homeowner as required. We hope that you will be back

We stayed in a townhouse and it was the perfect respite in North Lake Tahoe. Staff was amazing!! The breakfasts were perfect and the grounds were a real treat. We hiked up to the top and over to the view of the lake! And the teens did the zip lining at Tree Tops, which was great. We will come back and enjoy again and again!!

Thank you for your review! Granlibakken Tahoe is located just a few miles from Squaw Valley, and is the perfect place to stay for a year-round getaway. The tram at Squaw operates all year, and offers great views. Granlibakken is also close to a number of other Tahoe attractions. We hope that you visit again soon!

We went to their sled hill the first week of April 2019 which understandably is at the end of the season. The Tahoe City snow park had already closed down sledding, so GB was one of the few places open with amenities. We chose GB because we felt the high price for sledding was justified since it also offered a good place for the entire family to hang out and eat, we wanted to make a day of it.

Unfortunately when we got there, food service was closed and the sledding hill was not groomed since their groomer supposedly didn't showed up. There really was no difference than the N Tahoe regional park $5 hill so I was unsure what our $17/person fee was actually going for. Not a great experience for the price, we expected a lot more.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at the Granlibakken Sled Hill. I have passed your comments on to our Ski Hill Manager. We do continue our regular operations with the supervised and groomed sledding hill, even later in the season, but when we are unable to deliver on our promises, we do offer discounted rates. I am sorry that your experience was less than satisfactory. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, and we'll work to deliver a high value sledding experience to all of our guests in the future.

A lovely area for kids and adults to learn how to ski in a low-key, stress-free environment. The sledding area is nice too, although more geared towards littler ones than thrill seeking teenagers/adults.

Thank you for your review of the Granlibakken Ski, Snowboard, and Sled Area! Our ski slope is great for beginners and families, with lessons and rentals available onsite. Sledding is fun for all ages, and our groomed and supervised sled hill is safe and fast. Lodging guests of Granlibakken Tahoe receive half-priced full-day ski and sled tickets, a great value. We hope that you visit again soon!

With the crazy crowds of the holiday week + powder, and a lack of availability for kiddo lessons on the resort were down the road from, our first ever (highly anticipated by the parents) ski week was off to a really rocky start. Our day at Granlibakken turned it all around.

We were lured by the small size, the sled hill that both kiddos would love and the fact that the one kiddo interested in skiing could take a few runs with one parent while the other kiddo could sled with the other parent. The reviews of the good Mexican food in the lodge didn’t hurt 🙂.

The sledding lived up to the hype and was well worth the ticket. The run is a wide, clear, and flat hard-packed run, and there are staff at the bottom who assist with clearing the bottom of the run. You hike up the slope, fenced and snow-bordered off from the run itself. It’s a climb but worth it. You use their discs (provided). You can pick up a significant amount of speed on the hill, so this run is for the more adventurous. There is a fenced Baby “mini-hill” to the side.

The ski/board run is alongside the sled hill. Serviced by two two-style lifts, this ski/board hill is PERFECT for families with small children and those learning to ski/board. There is only one large run, but it boasts a few flavors up top, and a wide, flat middle and bottom. The short tow lift goes about 1/3 up the overall hill and is perfect for beginners. The slope available from this short lift is wide, groomed, and open - it’s honestly bunny slope perfection. The short tow lift is super easy for beginners to use and is stopped by the operator when needed (someone having trouble getting off).

Kiddo #1 is our eager learner and couldn’t get up the slope fast enough. The gentle slope was exactly what he needed to work on the basics and begin to get his fundamentals down, and give him some confidence. There aren’t nearly the numbers of people on the run here so you have so many less other bodies to worry about.

Kiddo #2 wanted nothing to do with skiing the other day much to our dismay. We had hoped the ski proximity to the ski hill might pique his interest and we were successful in this. We grabbed his great from the car and were able to get him into skis and learning to pizza pie wedge on the extremely gentle slope... an absolutely different experience from the other day. He’s now excited about tomorrow’s lesson thanks to our time here. To say this is a miracle is an understatement.

Ski lift ticket includes sledding, or you can purchase a sled hill only ticket. Rates are extremely reasonable for Tahoe.

Ski lessons are available by advance online booking through the third party operator the website points you to. They do not (or did not today) take “walk ons”, so if you’re interested in lessons, plan more than 24 hours in advance (I was told 24 hours but the site didn’t let me book next day, only offered windows day after next). We would have loved to slip into a lesson for one or both of the kiddos but didn’t decide to check out this resort until last night... too late to advance book.

We had a great Mexican lunch. Solid burritos and super nachos in Bay Area standards but for being the lunch you can get on the hill??? Excellent resort food.

Staff were great, all we interacted with.

I almost hate to write such a glowing review as I don’t want crowds to find this gem but it would be a disservice not to. This is a hidden gem for families with little kids and needing wide open spaces to learn in. We will be back. Thank you for being the turning point of our trip!

Thank you for your wonderful review of the Granlibakken Ski and Sled Hill! We are so glad that you found us, even if it was a bit last-minute. :) You covered it all in your review--Granlibakken's slopes are fun, affordable, and uncrowded-great for beginners and families. To make the rates even more affordable, guests of Granlibakken Tahoe Resort & Conference Center get half-priced sledding and full-day lift tickets. Our sledding hill is fun and fast for the kids and the kids-at-heart, but is also supervised and groomed for safety. Rusty's Kitchen, located in the ski hut, serves up delicious Mexican food at affordable prices, and the entire hill can be viewed from the ski hut deck. Our ski and snowboard hill is great for beginners and families, super affordable and uncrowded. Generations of visitors and locals have learned on the Granlibakken slopes, which have been used for winter recreation since 1922. We are so glad that your two kids became part of that tradition. Granlibakken is a great place for beginners who are eager learners, but also beginners who may be a bit more hesitant. The gentle bunny slope is perfect for practicing fundamentals, and for sparking some interest in snowboarding and skiing. All lift tickets at Granlibakken include sledding, which is a great deal for the families who would like to do some of both. We do offer lessons and rentals onsite. The lessons are through a third-party company, and we do recommend that people book in advance, especially during busy holiday periods. We are sorry that we were unable to accommodate your family for a lesson on the first day, but we hope that you are able to book a lesson during your vacation. Thank you again for your glowing review, and we are so glad you found this hidden gem. We hope to see you on the slopes again soon!
