The Martis Peak Fire Lookout is one of the best places to see. I do wish that it was still in operation by the Forest Service as it was very interesting talking with the person on-duty. The views are wonderful and an excellent photo spot!

Turn off of Hwy 267 and drive up a road that takes you up through a forested area. Watch for dirt bikers who love this place. Once you've reached the top, you'll be glad that you made the trip. 360 degrees of the most breathtaking...More

We hiked from 267 to the lookout, some great views along the way. Easy trail with a moderate incline about 8 miles round trip.

We could not find the lookout. We did find a gated community on Martis Peak Road. So much for internet directions.

I found this place years ago, and some days the road is open or not. It has a vantage that overlooks Tahoe to the South, Martis Valley to the North and Northstar, Squaw Valley, and Alpine to the West. Get up there on a clear...More

Cannot predict March 2019 snow conditions. However, Tahoe is always worth visiting because of the exceptional scenery. If you prefer warmer weather, then going during the summer months is recommended, since you will likely... More
