The historic Carnegie Library opened in 1916, and following a renovation and expansion project in 2011 is now one of only a handful of professional art centers in the Central Valley region. The Carnegie's programs include museum-quality art exhibitions, educational classes and programs, lectures, and activities in artistic genres as diverse as dance, music, theater and more. At least 25% of all programming is dedicated to children and teens. operated by the Carnegie Arts Center Foundation, the center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

Its sad to think that the best thing that could have happened to this place was having a fire, but the new renovations are beautiful. They have incorporated some of the old building style in with Modern and it really works well. Great event space,...More

Thanks for your comments. We think the architect (Larry Wenell of Wenell, Mattheis & Bowe in Stockton) did a wonderful job of blending old and new. The design and amenities make it a pretty special place for an event! We hope you come back soon.

In a town like Turlock it is nearly impossible to find art that will please everyone. The Carnegie makes the mistake of trying. Some of the shows are strong but too many are stock issue traveling shows, prints in huge editions by big-name artists. Not...More

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We do vary the schedule quite a bit throughout the year; perhaps you could visit more often to see the variety of our shows? Almost all of the exhibitions in our Lobby Gallery are living California artists, and this...More

a wonderful place to see great plays and beautiful works of art. The newer section has been added on to the existing structure which was once the Turlock's Library of which you can still see the smoke damage from the fire that ravaged the library

This is a beautiful building and we'll set up to walk through and enjoy the exhibits. The area for kids plays is intimate that allows for a close up experience for my grandkids.

Service dogs are permitted, of course. We do not allow pets in the galleries unless they are small, confined to a carrier and not creating an issue for other guests.
