I LOVE the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas for its peace, beauty, and compassion, for its campus, museum, and temple, for its peacocks, and also for its delightful vegetarian Chinese restaurant!

We had been here on a Sunday and spent almost an entire day. The place is calm and peaceful. One will love the way peacocks and peahens roam around as free birds. There is also a vegetarian restaurant inside the campus where you get some...More

There's no mistaking the entrance to The City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. When you enter, you feel like you are in a new town, because you pretty much are. This hospital-turned-Buddhist-community has residences, a boys and a girls school, a museum, a temple, and much...More

This place was a high point in our trip. The entry was very beautiful. The museum part did not interest us much. But we were really mesmerized to see the inside of Buddha Hall (just across the administrative building). They have 10,000 idols of lined...More

When we stopped by it was pretty deserted. I expected these exceptional gardens. But they had small little places here and there with ponds. The interesting thing here were the peacocks... crazy birds got all wound up when a delivery truck would drive in. It...More

I'm mostly vegan at home, but it's hard to find good vegan food on the road. This place is very humble but serves up some very good vegan food. Plus, it's an interesting place to stop at. Drive through the ornate gates and sign in...More

The moment you pass through the massive entrance to this "city" you're in another world. Formerly a state hospital, this Buddhist center has been here for many years. There's a university, boys' and girls' schools, living quarters for the residents, several meditation halls, a museum,...More

There are no fees. You are able to go about the place and park for free. The only thing they ask is that you do sign in. There are two reasons I can see they would want this for. One would be to show how many people come and... More
